The main conflict between Vox and Alastor is a battle of technology. Vox loves technological advances after his time, and does what he can to keep up with it. Alastor on the other hand, absolutely hates any technological advances after his time, hence why he despises technology like television

SIr Pentious IS that incompetent and incapable. There's a reason that he's harmless even with his war machine. He's extremely desperate to win the favor of the three VVVs, but he genuinely...messes up so much. He's also a rather dramatic guy, drawing things out just for the sake of it

7:33 - Just in case nobody else noticed, Valentino’s servant who he calls Kitty is actually a Fizzibot just like the ones seen in Helluva Boss. His is a custom made servant Fizzi just like Mammon’s. Even though we may never see a direct crossover, It’s so awesome to see that both shows do in fact take place in the same Hell by referencing each other like this! P.S. The Stayed Gone song is my favorite so far in the show, all the songs in this show are so dang catchy it’s insane.

Cal, the creator said the pilot is canon for Hazbin Hotel. Episode one takes place a week after the events of the pilot.

A radio only requires a receiver and a transmitter to broadcast. So despite still needing electricity; either by being plugged into a wall or running on batteries;, it’s a lot simpler than the more complicated tech required for televisions to broadcast hence why Alastor could still broadcast over the radio after Vox’s short circuit caused a blackout in Pentagram City

Some radios don't even require that, simply requiring the radio waves themselves to work and getting powered by the transmissions. Specifically the oldest types of radios which used certain crystals.

I think the talk-singing is thematic to the characters. They're both different generations/iterations of the slick, fast-talking con man and I think the song captured that during the "rapping" segment.

If only things rhymed properly lol. I think they should have just actually rapped though because since our reaction I’ve been taking a look at the actual structure of the song and it makes no sense 😭😭😭

@@calxiyn That could, arguably, make sense thematically as well. They’re not in-sync, they’re discordant, they’re fighting for control of the verse structure. I am not musically inclined though, so you would definitely have a better grasp of the music than myself. :)

What I do find interesting about 'Stayed Gone' is that Vox's lyrics are arguably meant to be supported (or rather 'strengthened') by visuals since he's the embodiment of the 'Television is controlling the gullible masses' trope. Whereas, Alastor already has a reputation for being able to spread terror with audio alone, since he was stated in the pilot to have broadcasted his killings across hell. I'm probably over analyzing things since the song really isn’t *the best,* but those were the vibes that I got.

Vox introduced a real broadcast at the beginning of the song, parodying fast toxic TV broadcasts. I don’t understand why say that a song is bad when its purpose is to imitate

You’re saying it would be weird for them to sing…. It’s a musical. *Everything* could be sung and it wouldn’t be weird at all. The whole point of a musical is to sing instead of talk lol.

Also the whole Sir Perniosis being caught I think was the best choice. Mainly cause-- I hate the idea of Charlie believing Sir Penrith’s over Angel and having this conflicted dragged out when he seems pretty….whats the word- harmless? Genuinely? Like yeah he’s trying to prove himself as fearful and trying the whole villain shtick but I think he’s better as an ally/resident to the hotel rather than someone working for the Vees (even if he did look up to them)

I already feel like if any of the vees get redeemed vox will at least be first. He has vonnections to alastor which may lead to him going to the hotel and he will meet the group that way

Technically they're only releasing 2 at a time if you include the early access to the first 2 episodes, so while they did release 4 episodes the first week to the public, it is technically only 2 a week from when the first 2 were ever available (aside from leaks)

As for a bar in the hotel, I can see it as a good and a bad idea. Obviously it's bad for relapsing, but the good is that it's in the hotel. Angel doesn't have to go to a bar and drink and be around people who could make him do worse. At least having a bar in the hotel lets Angel relapse in a safe environment where there are people around who can talk him through it.

No I don’t think Pentious getting caught was part of the plan. I think he didn’t mean to get caught but with Pentious being well….Pentious. He really is going to be trying to change now. Honestly if Pentious was going to still be working for the Vs past this episode , I think they would have done it differently. I think they would have had Charlie and Vaggie believe Pentious over Angel because they walked in on Angel and Pentious fighting and then when Angel tried showing them the camera, it would have been gone so because of that they would have believed Pentious over Angel. I honestly thought that was the root they were going to go down myself once I saw Charlie and Vaggie walk in.

Considering this is the only song in the current 4 available episode that goes for the talk singing, I have to wonder if this isn’t to show that Vox is doing exactly what Alastor says he’s doing : chasing a trend, trying to stay relevant. After all, Vox is the one who starts with the Lin Manuel Miranda thing, and though Alastor sort of plays along I’m pretty sure his portion is shorter and then he takes it back to fully singing with the jazz music and even steals Vox’s menacing part from the start of the song, but makes it even more ominous. I may be looking too deep into it, but to me it almost feels like the song itself is just another way for Alastor to make fun of him.

Alastair is a terrific character. His full hell form is based off a terrifying Native creature called a Wendego that's cannibalistic and screams hence the screams in the background of Alastairs scene
