Hours of hard work. Thank you both. Update: many are saying it took years of hard work to get to this level of a performance. My statement about hours was made from the point of view that those of us who perform at this level. We spend hours preparing for this specific type of performance.
Most serious violinists practice for many hours a day 7 days a week. Most serious musicians practice for hours daily. A lot of Asian children are required to practice on an instrument for 5 hrs a day 7 days a week. Along with their school work and other extra curricular activities. A physical sport or dance are also encouraged. They take life very seriously and the children don't have time to become misfits in society.

Even when I studied music at school so didn’t appreciate it all that much. But as I’ve gotten older I’m the same way as you. The complexity, the imagination and sheer tenacity to make these pieces of art is incredible.
It's staged. Surely as a fellow violin player you know that we don't just keep our violins sat beside us with no case anywhere in sight whenever we go for a nice family dinner.
