Dude, there were always certain games you could hear above everything else. Around this time, they were usually Pac-Man, Galaxian, Wizard of Wor, and Defender.
I'm honestly surprised that a Bally owned arcade only had the cabaret version of Pac-Man. Most of the arcades I frequented around this time had 2 full sized uprights. The cabarets usually went in convenience stores and restaurants.
Ah, the sound of 1981! "I've got Pac Man Fever! Pac Man Fever! I'm going out of my mine! Going out of my mind"! That lady is popping in quarter after quarter trying to get by the 1st maze!
I would bring a pad and pencil with maps of the pac man playing field and make notes as I watched really good players. Learned how to solve many tough levels that way. 😄
I said the same thing! My wife & I said that it looks like watching somebody play it for the first time. Then I realized that we've all had 40 some years to practice Pac-Man. This game was new when this was recorded - nobody knew how to play it that day.
If Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition was around during that time you would hear random sounds like “HADOKEN” and “Yoga Fire” or “Sonic Boom” in the background lol. It was typically Lous enough to hear from a distance.
