A Visit to Chichen Itza, Yucatán 

OH MY GOSH! I hope Rick is doing full episodes on Mexico and other nearby countries!

I am glad to see his insights on a different continent besides Europe. I know he has done Iran but it is good to see him outside traditional Europe......possibly SE Asia?

Pretty basic mistake. Chichen Itza is in Yucatan State. Tulum, Cancun and Playa del Carmen are in Quintana Roo. I have been to Chichen Itza and it is totally fascinating. There is a lot more to see besides that pyramid. My favourite was the Great Ball Court. A few days later, at XCaret (a theme park on the Mayan Riviera) I saw a wonderful show where they played the actual games that would have taken place in the Great Ball Court. They included tossing great balls of fire! Our guide at Chichen Itza had a Masters in history. I think that they strive to attain a high standard because of the importance of the site.

i have been 19 years ago at Chichen Itza. then you still could climb the piramide to the top. It was really amazing. I think of safety regulations its forbidden now. Also a travel tip if you are on a holiday at Cancun. DONT take the guided tour from Cancun. Take the local bus from Cancun to Merida (there is a busstop at Chichen Itza). its much cheaper and much more fun to travel with locals.

The funniest thing about this Rick knows sod all about Chichen Itza. One of the great delights of youtube is watching these "experts" drone on..without knowing a thing

You should do the Americas now! There is so much beauty in Mexico that a lot of people haven't seen. I recommend you guys checkout viajefest on RU-vid to see some other places.

Rick; The Indians discovered Columbus and should have sold hime to Cortez. Columbus didn't discover America because America didn't exist at the time, and he never set foot on the North American Continent. I really can't believe you said he discovered America. He was a killer, a kidnapper and a pillager. Ef Columbus. Nice video otherwise.

UGH. horrible. try getting good information before making ignorant errors. -- here i am in Chichen Itza, Quintana Roo... Yes yes you corrected yourself by talking about the name of Yucatan. Pyramid built sometime 900-1100 not 1200. Get informed!
