This was about a year ago in Philly. Sorry I didn’t get back to show what I bought. 2 Horace Silver early 60’s OG Blue Notes and The Miracles first album. There were others but those were the heavy hitters. Great store and a great family business!

If I am ever in Philadelphia, now I know where to go. Thanks!

Enjoyed your video, thanks. Love Dr John, all the ATCO albums. Jimmy Hughes never got the fame he deserved, highly recommend his other albums 'Steal Away' & 'Something Special' if you don't have them.

I always love record store tours and interviews. You found some great music. It’s always great to find a place that you feel comfortable and that you always find something. Enjoyed the video.

Great scores, doctor! Those Horace records are amazing. The Dr. John stuff is absolutely delightful and can kick start any party / any generation. Love his music. That Miracles record was an awesome score--I have the 81 RE of it, and it sways. Also, obviously, very cool record store tour.

Great haul there from nice store as I can see from here, nice that you got to interview them, tried that on one store but they didn't want to be filmed :) Never been in Philly, but someday maybe, then I will visit that one. Happy Spinning when time comes! Cheers

I was in Philly last month, too bad I didnt know about this place. I did hit Princeton Record Exchange in Jersey, a bucket list visit for me living in Cali.

6:00 Kept my Gil-Scott Heron albums even when I sold other stuff 30 years ago. Every album I think, and 12" Johannesburg single. Saw GSH in Sheffield 1984, and in Manchester 1990. Great voice, fine composer, political satire, and a terrific band easily transitioning through soul jazz funk.

Down Home Music in El Cerritto, CA is my closest record store. Dave's Records down the street in Berkeley might be my favorite. Dave will give quantity & cash discounts. Strictly Vinyl is right between them in Albany. I hope you enjoy your retirement as much as I am.

I know down home well. I haven’t been to Dave’s in years. Used to spend a lot of time on telegraph Ave stores 1980’s. They are not as good now…

The Jimmy Hughes and Aretha Franklin albums could have been included in my video Albums That Look The Same. Gris Gris was recorded in Los Angeles. I’m not sure about his others.

I wondered if you liked Todd Rundgren, he grew up in Philly. There's a Rundgren concert on YT from Amplified that's very good. There are quite a few musician from that area as you may know. Nice shop there. Hopefully you'll continue to shop more shops in the future.

Chong from Cheech and Chong is on the Bobby and the Vancouver's. He's on the front cover and was a member of the band.

There’s one more Dr.John album that goes with those first three, The Sun Moon & Herbs. I highly recommend it. I’m also a Gil Scott fan, I hope you visited Academy records on east 12th street in Manhattan and the one on west 18th street. Both two of my favorite record stores i frequent all the time..✌️

It’s a bit hard to see the record covers properly. Are you, and the records you show us, facing a window? That would explain the reflections. I appreciate your videos

Bobby Taylor’s band wasn’t biracial. It was integrated. Big difference.
@Doctore_Robert
@Doctore_Robert 10 месяцев назад
Thanks for the clarification. Multi-racial maybe?
@JLeeeP
@JLeeeP 10 месяцев назад
@@Doctore_Robert That would work. Segregated and integrated are the classic terms, but in this case the band is white, black and hispanic so multi-racial seems ideal.
