Agreed, Adam Lambert makes a shame off queen... I don't care if he's gay or purple or whatever, he's just to much and queen nowadays sounds terrible with Adam.. in my opinion Marc Martell is thé person to be touring with Queen.
I listened to it with closed eyes and when he sang the word "keep" at 7:10 it sounded 100% like Freddie. PS: My father was a great Queen fan as a teen and when I played him Marc Martel, he thought it was Freddie...
Chris Lipe the vocal coach, Thomas crane from Australias got talent, Vava77 from the x factor usa, black gryphon, mathias proctor and Anthony from ten second songs all match freddie mercury.
i was one of the 70,000 people who's voices were picked from the put me in bohemian contest, mixed together, and edited into the movie to create the audio for the crowd singing along with freddie when he sings bohemian rhapsody at wembly at the end of the movie.
i can mimic freddie pretty closely. i,ve gotten an %83 high score on freddie meter for singing bohemian rhapsody and a %75 high score on freddie meter for singing bohemian.
Marc is incredibly humble. The interviewer is giving him the chance to really play up his success and accomplishments and what does Marc do? He redirects the attention to the other people who were involved in the film and the hard work they put in.
Marc is a class act,not robbing Rami of any of his hard work despite the host trying to steer him in that direction (that's what it seems like to me anyway)
Marc has seen and heard more than any of us. He gets it. But he knows the cream rises to the top. Detractors will serve him and fans will join him...lol
I am lucky enough to have seen both Freddie and Marc Martel live, Marc is absolutly amazing what makes it so special is he didnt try to sound like Freddie he just sounds like him
Honestly I've watched enough of Freddie to give the opinion Marc is better. Doesn't take anything away from Freddie but he is more solid would be funny to hear arguments against it. Freddie was awesome but still it's just not as intentional sounding, not as clean either.
what...? Marcs entire career is BUILT OFF OF sounding EXACTLY like Freddie Mercury. That's the whole reason he's where he is now lol. Just cause he says he "tries not to sound exactly" like freddy, he's very clearly doing an immitation AND CHANGING his speaking voice to sound even more like him lol. That's why he's never going to be anything but the queen guy, and personally even if I could sing as good as him and sound like freddy, I'm not sure I would want to. That's a fucking nail in your career that will keep you from being able to do ANYTHING else. You will always just be the queen imitator. I don't mean any of this as a knock on him. He's an incredibly talented singer. Maybe one of thee most talented singers I've ever seen. However, it's insane to say he's not deliberately altering his voice to sound as much like freddy as the record. Shit, Marc is even telling the story about how similar his voice is in this video. He even shifts his lower jaw forward to get the same ennunciation as freddy lol. So lets not pretend he's not trying to make his voice the same. That's the whole point of what he does.
@@Southboundpachyderm you COMPLETELY lost me when you say he is changing his speaking voice. He is speaking in lower, gentler tones because he's preserving his voice for the concert ahead that night. At the time of this interview, he was on an arena tour with Christian music legends Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith (they do an annual Christmas music tour and Marc was the special guest this time). They also had a No. 1 song together. He releases Christmas music every year, and a single or two always chart on the AC Billboards, so he doesn't JUST do Queen.
My dad has been a massive queen fan his whole life he seen them live at Edinburgh playhouse, I got him to shut his eyes and put you singing love of my life and he said that’s Freddie!!!
@@StarClay666 Both different both great. Respect to him for being able to pull it off. Mariah (at least in the 90s) had an exceptional vocal technique. All I Want For Christmas is very difficult to sing for anybody who is following the arrangement of the original. Massive respect to this dude for pulling it off!
It's his genuine voice believe it or not! He's not trying to sound like Freddie, he just does! Naturally! Marc is the best and closest to Freddie's voice in the entire world! I never heard anyone else sound even close!
I hope Marc you come to Australia. I’d love to see your show. You are amazing. I close my eyes and listen to you singing Queen songs and it’s like I’m hearing Freddie.
Noraly That’s because you were hearing Freddie’s voice. "In the end, the decision was made to work with the live recordings and improve them as much as possible. The only singing by the vocal double that was used are bits for which no recordings of Freddie exist, for example where he sings 'Happy Birthday' to himself at the piano. We are all very picky about technical quality, but you have to balance that against the emotional impact. You want the energy of the original performance. No-one will be sitting in the cinema thinking, 'Oh, my goodness, there's a tiny bit of distortion on the lead vocal.' You just go: 'This is exciting!' In fact, that little bit of distortion adds to the excitement. And also, that concert is so well-known, if you change anything in it, you're going to be nailed to the wall!" (Soundonsound)
Rami put in a lot of work so it appears like he is singing, but they didn't use the audio, instead using Freddie's isolated vocals where possible, and Marc's additional vocals when they didn't have quality recordings of Freddie.
Marc: I can understand why Bryan preferred Adam instead... It must really weird playing with someone who sounds just like Freddie. Although I really would die to see Marc and Queen on concert!
Jeanette Kejling they did played with Marc because he won a contest and they played on a tour called Queen extravanganza, so if you don’t know please shut up
what I think also plays a role, is that with Marc as the vocalist, Queen becomes a kind of coverband. And I must say, the resemblence of Marc with Freddie is also so incredible that it fucks with my mind, I can then only imagine how it would be like for Brian and Roger who even had a personal relationship with Freddie.
"I had my own songs but people would come up to me and tell me I sound like Freddie..." I love queen and I love Mark's voice, I just think it's so sad for all of us, Musicians, to have one more amazing talent walking away from originals to survive and pay his bills from his passion.
People are stupid and this is the age of decadence. Most GREATS start by covering but then grow. Nobody is given a chance to grow anymore, neither by people, nor the industry. It's an age of cultural and moral decadence. That's why everything is about copying and reminiscing. Also boomers are all brainwashed into thinking they're better than everybody before and after them so there's that.
It is a great thing to be a performer as well, so many incredible songwriters see their lyrics live through other people's voices. Still, they are originals. People ask me why dont I just play covers instead of my originals (btw www.jayraw.com) And I always say the same, if I wanted to play covers for a living I would join an orquestra... I do some tributes now and then of course but I think we artists have a mission to tell how we experience this word in hopes that this can be shared by other listeners in hopes that just maybe those experiences could be useful to them and so on.
@@Estrella21 I think she was not as popular here (Europe) as in America, but one thing she has in common with Marc. She improved most (or maybe all) of the songs she covered! IMO! 😂
@@lyricelizabeth9860 No FX. No Digital Reverb. No Digital Delay. No doubling. There’s nothing to help “smooth-over” any defects. It’s like having a portrait - with no retouching. .
wow.. it's like Freddy's soul reincarnated into Marc Martel, but he left room for Marc to still be himself, manifesting himself ONLY when Marc channels him out of free choice... simply amazing.
I think when Freddie went up to the good gates, God said, "Choose somebody randomly to sound exactly like you" Freddie pointed down in our globe and chose Marc.
@@Elixir6 talent to me at least, isn't something you just have. you have to work and practice. A lot of people think you just wake up and naturally you are gifted, in reality he is a dedicated musician who has practiced many years in the craft.
@Jeanette Kejling so because somebody trolled your boy Adam on one of his videos, you come here to harass people? That make ABsOLUTELY no sense you crazy old bat. If you see someone dissing your boy, then confront them there.
It's funny because when he was interviewed, he was asked how many songs did he sing in the movie, and he said that his contract said that he couldn't tell. Then he was asked how many singers sang Freddie in the movie and he replies, "oh I can tell you that. I was the only one. My contract didn't say that I couldn't tell anybody". So he was the only singer on the film that I watch quite often because I love the film and I love hearing Marc singing.
