I worked in Oman over 30 years ago in Muscat. I have always wanted to return and I’m so pleased I did. Not a lot has changed. Perfect weather, beautiful architecture and white sandy beaches. Muscat looks amazing. Not a place I have ever thought about as a holiday destination. Looks relaxing and interesting. Walking sand dunes will exercise the legs for sure.

I didn't think I would be going to the desert this morning! I'm looking out my window, seeing a steady stream of snow. Thank you, Jo, for allowing me to travel to such a beautiful place. You look so beautiful! I wouldn't worry about not climbing the sand dunes. My goodness, I have never done that, but it looks much harder than climbing other terrains. You attempted it! This was such an inspirational video! Have a safe flight back to London, my dear friend!

So true! I appreciate Jo's honesty by including on this vlog her struggle with the sand dunes. Most vloggers wouldn't show the reality of being of a certain age...when the mind says keep going but the body says stop already. I really dont need to see Jo riding a camel or climbing to the top of the tallest sand dune...i just like seeing her having fun & relaxing in such a beautiful, exotic location. That's impressive & inspirational enough!

Hiking up sand is much more difficult than just hiking up regular terrain. I discovered this in the desert in Utah where we raced up a sandy red rock hillside. Give yourself some grace. You are still in great shape!

I love vacation vlogs! Please don’t shorten the vlog because you’re not in London. You might have had difficulty getting up the dune because of your congestion. It’s probably restricting your breathing. Take care!

What a beautiful place Muscat is. I have never been anywhere quite like that. I did go to Tunisia where the scent from certain flowers came out at night. I have never smelled anything so gorgeous. Thanks for sharing. I loved all the clothes you wore on holiday. I think there is something elegant about dressing modestly. Also, it must protect you from the sun.

How wonderful to see Muscat. I was lucky enough to win a trip with Emirates to Abu Dhabi almost 2 years ago now and took my daughter. We fell in love with the call to prayer every morning, the beauty and the cleanliness. And the people so polite. The trip included being driven to places daily like the Grand Palace and the Mosque, and the last night we had a celebratory dinner in the desert. Where I too realised how age has caught up with me and I had to sit in the shaded tent area keeping as cool as I could in 42 degrees. My daughter of course was out in the dunes camel riding, quad biking and having a grand time being photographed by the guides who were quite taken by such a blonde hair and beauty. Amazing place to visit and will love to go back one day. Thank you for this little memory.

Extremely proud and friendly locals. I went to Oman in October - took a 2 hour drive up the mountain to the Anantara resort. The canyon view ,the food.. All fantastic. Already planning trip back to explore the green south. I would totally recommend to everyone wanting the exoticness of the Middle East but needs a break from the new build/shiny Dubai ❤

Hi Jo! I've lived in the Middle East for 24 years and I've never been to the Chedi !! Now , after seeing your gorgeous video , I have to plan a visit of course ...I currently live in Qatar so I'm very accustomed to the scents you speak of ..it is something I will always attribute to the Middle East as it is everywhere you go ..Muscat , Qatar, Saudi Arabia and even Dubai. It's the Oud , incense and the spices ...just wonderful and exotic .

I love Muscat. I was suppose to work as an executive chef in one of the restaurants. But then, in 2012 our family circumstances changed and we moved to Colorado instead. However, as the fate has it, I now live next door to Oman. I also stayed at Hyatt for a few days. Thank you for this vlog about this mysterious place. Fish market was my highlight. I cooked the most amazing tuna and octopus. You cannot match the freshness of that seafood.

Loved, loved it. I was an expat child in the middle east in the 60 and 70. I became a bite homesick and remember going up and doen the sanddunes. ❤ like you, it would be somewhat different now 😢

A beautiful trip. I enjoyed it so much! The tents are so interesting. A sand dune is not an easy thing to conquer; kudos for giving it a shot. I used to do so many things that I don't attempt now. I embrace my age and capabilities but can still enjoy life. Thanks for taking us along!
