Thank you for more excellent videos. Do you use a camera that is visually obvious to those around you or some other kind? If it is obvious, what reaction do you get, if any. You have covered a lot of sidewalk recently - you must be a hiker. Best wishes.
Michael, first off, let me say, the French invented the camera. And are somewhat very proud of its usage. I use a Canon Dslr, with a Rode mic attachment with a dead cat covering. The camera is obvious and I’m am very obvious in my shooting. The French are used to this and are very Blasé about it, if anything the can get a little hammy in front of the lens which I love. There are more people with cameras and cell phones in Paris filming at any given moment than anywhere else in the world. The French get it...if one is in the public sphere, you have no privacy. Where unlike the USA, Americans, for some reason, think there is a right to privacy on the street. And somehow feel they are entitled to compensation or have ones film deleted or such. Or come screaming at you to tell me I’ve no right to be photographing. In The UK, one is not allowed to photograph children. And people come out of no where to remind of such, even tho there isn’t a child within a 100 miles of the shot. It’s insane. I’ve no interest in children, but everyday I was reminded not to photograph minors. No, all of France is cool about it.
@@MichaelJirochVisualArtist Thanks for the information. When I've been in Paris and a good portion of the world, I've just seen tourists taking selfies. At the Grand Canyon a couple of years ago there were Chinese teens over the handrails at the very edge of the precipice taking selfies, and I read occasionally about tragic results of such things. In the US people constantly publish fotos of themselves and their kids and dogs an cats etc., as you know.
@@guastomike Its about showing off...letting friends know that they are someplace, somewhere important and trying to create jealousy or envy. Its has to do with wanting fame, be it large or small. Many RU-vidrs its about branding their faces. i.e. Casey Neistat, The OFFICIAL KING OF SELFIES, He is a smart guy, but his face is so ugly to look at I cant stand to watch his videos. He is very clever, and smart, but he so wants to be known and famous, and is. So, he is the poster boy for all these selfies. BTW...he makes a fortune on RU-vid and also sponsership galore. But when you have the whole world wanting to be famous..its annoying. I am trying to document a time and place....for future reference. Things change fast in this world. And many things will disappear. And there will be a record of here on the WWW.
@@MichaelJirochVisualArtist There is a poem about anonymity that ends "And no stone to show where I lie." That's my creed - and I may be an outlier in the current culture. But I wish you the best with your RU-vid endeavors.
You missed out the huge market, Rue de Lyon, (the road next to the theatre), a pizza vendor, very nice shops, its not all about the Metro and the cafes ad infinutum. My dog can do a better job filming, it has a function called explore, I have a brain, but learn from 'le chien' then ask me questions for advanced techniques.
