@thereluctantoutdoorsman5341 Paddy the cockapoo and I decide to walk a loop around the outskirts of town - St. Helier, Jersey on a fine September day. This is a slow paced walk around the streets of the biggest urban area on this beautiful island. This is Part 1 of a two part video.

Hi John, well my friend you seem to have had a hand in building half of Jersey! Fair play to you! Every time I walk into town through "John's tree tunnel" I'll be thinking of you mate! 😁

You walked past the second place that I lived in fof two years 85 Rouge Bouillon when I first came to Jersey in 1981 and it seems like a life time ago. You finished part one at the first pub that myself and my brother went into and ordered two pints of Mary Ann bitter and we thought was very nice this will do. Cheers as always for the memories Tom.

There was a time when the more elderly holidaymakers could be seen in People's Park, in their deckchairs with a knotted handkerchief on their heads! Seeing you go past Springfield Stadium I was reminded of the Battle of Flowers in 1951, which I think congregated at Springfield before wending its way through town. I have a distinct memory of standing on the corner of Belmont Road and Bath St throwing pennies onto the floats as they went by. I have never seen any reference to its route back then and wonder if anyone of your subscribers remembers this first Battle after the Occupation. Another wonderful walk. Lovely to see the weather is holding out for you. Is it an Indian summer?

Hi Kate! The People's Park memory was great.....thanks for that! Wow! 1951 Battle of Flowers! I wasn't born until 1959! Fair play to you Kate.......your memory must still be very good. I can't remember what I had for breakfast!!!! 😁😁😁 I think we'll struggle to find another subscriber who witnessed it and is still in good enough shape to use a computer!!!! 😉😉😉

There must be many more oldies around - they just haven't found your page yet. I think you have to be away from Jersey for many years before you really appreciate the beauty and history of the island.(Although I have always been homesick!!!) I must have watched every you tube submission from other people, mostly too shallow and sometimes downright boring. At the risk of repeating myself, you are doing a great job - just need another 740 subscribers - and then some. Where are they all??

Ha ha! Brilliant.....and thank you so much for your continuing support of my channel! If subscribers keep coming in at the current rate 1,000 is looking like being 2 years away!!!! ☹️😔🥲😉😁

can you show clarance road where the clarance hotel is was the belmout ( sorry spelling ) and where the hotel is think aftrer the coop/ its in a dip just as u go out of st helier past the art gallery and u turn left it was before a pig farm the farm was there in the 90’s and it was at the end of a new housing estate . trying get back in touch with kevin , mo, jane, alex and kerry i stayed with them a lot and it was when england were in world cup i think we narrowly lost and alex was devastated , also is the book shop still there near the irish pub. i love jersey so much maybe one day i be back. also where the best place to live in st helier for a wheelchair user is remember the paths are not wide but we parked at the car park at snow street the most think its called that its where the old cable car station was next to to the tunnel. also use to park on the carpark for channel tv which before they move was next to the ambulance station, thank u for the videos

Hi Sian, sorry I have taken a while to reply but I was trying to work out where the area was that you mentioned in your comment. I have to say I'm stumped......as I can't picture a Co-op near Clarence Road and an art gallery on the way out of town? Georgetown maybe? Anyway, I think I walk down Clarence Road in an earlier video - I think it was 'A chatty walk around St. Helier'. I'll get back down there one of these days!

Hi Sian, mmmmh It is a place I've never heard of but I've managed to find out that The Raleigh Hotel was on Mont au Pretre on La Rue du Petit Clos. I have to say it is an area of the island I do not know at all, but it looks like it joins onto Vallee des Vaux so I will definitely do a walk up there when we next get some decent weather and will video it for the channel. I'm so glad tha you are enjoying the videos and Paddy says thanks for the hug! 👍
