A look at the local history of the Murton and New York areas close to North Shields in the North East of England. A Site with a blacksmiths which was purpose built as a smithy as early as 1834 with Lewis Dunn being the earliest recorded blacksmith working there.
The reason this small area suffered a large number of bomb attacks during the second World War, is the site of a decoy, which is now a piggery.
This short multimedia piece was made with the help of Dr Elizabeth Ashton and the Murton Action Group, during the protests of local residents against the local authorities attempts to build more houses on the site.
