They must be a hardy bunch up North. My Dad was always fighting. He and his brother. He was a boxer and had his nose broken three times and proud of it because he thought he looked too "pretty.'' He left because of the War and then he met a guy from Liverpool, and he visited him and that's where he saw my mother and he never went back. I could have been from Middlesborough. It's the luck of the draw. They've got their flags up there. They're trying to have a life and enjoy a bit of football. Those kids looked well dressed. Everyone making the best of it. Life is a struggle for everyone.
very true mate- its the luck of the draw where you come from but your right in that most people from hard working class areas do their best and the best by their kids in spite of the obvious hardships.
Doggy (as we call it) market used to be epic back in the sixties when I was a kid. I had my appendix removed in 1977 at North Ormesby hospital after it burst after a day’s drinking at my Uncles pub (The Robin Hood, over the border in Middlesbrough) !
I used to run Walter Wilson's Super Market on Kings Road back in the 1980's I now live out west on the Canadian Prairies. North Ormesby was a nice town back then. I think my old shop is now One|Stop food shop these days. Thank you.
North Ormesby also known as doggy. Ws a lovely place in the 80s first time buyers haven young couples family's first houses , but now it's wher tner just throw all the immigrants bag heads drug dealers , House prices dropped dramatic,y when they moved first of all couple gad eggs inn brought yeh area down. Then just deteriorated to what it is now
My dad is from north ormesby and my nanna lived there for a number of years she owned a fish and chippy there I use to go and stay with her on weekends I loved it as a kid.. haven’t been there since I was a kid though
Doggy born and bred,used to be a desirable place to live,growing up in the 80's it was class,everyone knew everyone,and it was safe,i don't feel the same when I pass through these days,very sad.
I am a Boro season ticket holder who lives in Doncaster now. A couple of times last season we had a beer in the Jovial Monk. The people in there are sound.

Funny cos I lived in North ormsbey for 5 years n yeah it's rough as but I never had any issues n some decent people over there... A large Romanian community now n again most are decent people... I brought me house there for £30000... I sold it for a nive profit n I'm now living somewhere a lot nicer lad... Down south from Middlesbrough...Bristol chapter was good n yeah I'm familiar with the well known St Paul's area of Bristol... Keep doing your thing n good health to you n your family..
It’s so sad how this country is now. I’m from down south ( Milton Keynes ) but even we have tents all around the shopping centre and gangs on some estates. They decided to put an overflow of people from London here so now we have all the gang 💩here now.
43 years lived in middlesbrough it's like a ghost town what as happened to a nice town over the years drugs crime and legal immigrants poverty it's only getting a lot worse also but it's not just middlesbrough the full country is like this and us as people have made like this such a shame
Looks lovely mate, hanging baskets and all that. Compare this to anfield for instance. Sure it needs a lick or paint here and there. But theres no kids on lecky bikes running you over, or dealers on every corner 😂
@michaelclarke721 Your talking about the football ground then yeah it's great. But the surrounding areas and many around county road/breck road are far more deprived than what I saw in this video. And your right it is a lovely city on the whole. At least the people are, but there are many areas that need regeneration

Another great little doc there, dunno how you have the bollox Bill to walk around with that camera in some areas, I'd have no chance it'd be swiped straight off me 🤣that is the first I have seen Grove Hill properly in a long time ... was in the Boro town centre yesterday and couldn't believe how much has changed. Ghost town, rapid decline especially over the past few year. Everything closed that i used to like to visit for clothes or what not, gone. A lot more homeless about. Sad to see the same thing happening seemingly anywhere North of London 👎 deprived areas getting increasingly worse for ASB and poverty in general rocketing like I've never known This election on Thursday will change f*ck all, more than sure of that. Sad I am so apathetic. Let's hope I'm wrong though and the country gets the regeneration needed and help to the most vulnerable in the areas like where you are highlighting Dunno if you're still in the Boro but if you are I would recommend checking out Eston Square TS6/Whale Hill, if not never mind. One of my mates lived in grove hill in the 80’s Jesus Christ it was every bit as bad then, one black man was father to 50 different kids on the estate so the neighbours all had a kid or two to the same man 🤦🏻 7:30 you had to get your cars off the road cos that was when the police were chasing 10 to 15 year olds round in cars, the kids would nick a car drive it round the roundabouts the wrong way smash into any cars that were on the kerb side then set fire to them when they had finished, all you heard from morning to night was warrr warrr police sirens ffs it was worse than the Gaza Strip 🤦🏻 went to the corner shop one night to get some bog roll & one of the low life’s saw me pull a fiver out my pocket to pay, so decided to follow me back to the house 🤔 to mug me, so I ripped a fence board off & took a swing at him, he was gone in seconds 😂 I was crazy back then & feared nowt, just as well cos you had to be or you had no life ! thanks for looking it up Billy no sooner said than done 👏🏽👏🏽 as always great videos

Billy, I work in that area and the surroundings on a daily, up close and personal. Yes it’s weird and deprived. Do not forget about the area that you grew up with, and your story back then. I feel some of your comments about this area are a little condescending, due to the fact that you were once viewed/classed as “the hills have eyes” I’m not trying to make a beef with you, just that that area is full of decent people that I’ve met and continue to meet on a daily. Just being honest with you.
Don't think you where in grove hill where those flags are mate looks like beechwood, over the road from Grove hill, should have went to valley road and palladoum shops thats where the stuff happens, was 2 cleva fights on valley road in the space of a week, same people fighting just different mates each time, its a shame because the great Brian Clough was born and raised on valley road the house has his plaque on it still.
Come on man he's swaggering around on Kings road and all the shutters are down on every single shop so he's obviously there very early on a morning lol I can tell you that usually the betting office , chicken place and that street is full of all the diverse doctors , engineers , scientists and dentists ENRICHING the area . The one stop further down the road is constantly getting robbed despite them putting a button operated lock on the door. It was only last week I tried to go in there and some smack head had OD'd and the place had the paramedics in it. That wasn't a realistic view of north ormesby cos he was wandering around for a while and he never got asked for a cigarette or money once
All your videos should be shown to the goverment they might learn something about the country and the people!!! Cause clearly all councils talk shite to them...
