Today'y adventure will let you enjoy a walk through the entire fabrication process of watch. From raw material to the actual finished product, Zenith has it all under one roof and is a fine example of what industrial watchmaking was in the late 19th century up to today, though we are now talking of much smaller and more exclusive volumes.
Zenith is also the creator of one of the most iconic watch movement, the El Primero, a movement which played a major role when it comes to accuracy and precision. This movement is still produced today and at one point equipped the famous Daytona from Rolex.
ERRATUM: Just wanted to clarify something because it is said that the El Primero is beating at 4Hz in the video and we all know that it beats at 5Hz, little lapsus from our side.

I was able to visit Zenith a bit more than a year ago and it really is a remarkable manufacture and one of the only one still producing 100% of the movements in-house. This was a great way to relive this awesome day, shoutout also to Paul Wirth for showing you around, I had a great time with him and Patrick Jaron that day. Cheers!

Very nice hand made watches. CNC cutters, CAD design, robots, very impressive, almost as impressive as Citizen quartz movements put together by hand.

This channel is the only I vote 'like' before watching the video. I wonder what's the technology behind the air quality in these factories as dust is part of the process yet is highly undesirable in the watch.
@WATCHESTVcom
@WATCHESTVcom 7 лет назад
They use pressure differences to evacuate the air from one room to the other, something similar as you will find in a surgical room

9:30 That's some passion for watchmaking right there. I would be curious to know how many watch components can be stamped. I'm also fascinated by the precision machining. Look forward to the tools segment.

Superb watch. But, never? Rolexes are for everyone and as a watch nerd, I understand your point. But, I’d never turn down the chance to own a vintage 1950s date just. That’ll be my case for a Rolex. I’ll never buy one of the flashy modern types.

I think your statement doesn’t make any sense. Why can’t a watch enthousiast who likes Zenith, also like other brands like Rolex? I hope you understand that Rolex is the only reason that Zenith and other brands making mechanical watches survived the crisis. Ik like and own both Zenith and Rolex, amongst other makes.

Wonderful tour of Zenith factory, demonstrating various production phases. But, curiously, the first and most fundamental phase was not shown: that of development of a new movement. It would be nice to meet engineers who devise mechanisms and complications ! Anyway, very, very enjoyable video. Like the rest from your channel !

Using Cosworth as an analogy for an engine maker for cars and Zenith as a movement maker for watched is incorrect. Cosworth did not manufacture engines, instead, they used Ford engines as Ébauches, which they would modify. Cosworth were eventually bought by Ford.

Je trouve que le sujet est tout à fait d'intérêt pour un amateur d'horlogerie mais le présentateur bien que connaissant et intéressant met ses intonations trop fortes sur certaines syllabes ce qui rend le reportage parfois pénible à écouter.
