That is the reason a lot of designers didn't like the supermodel era...you saw the WOMAN....not the clothes...and since she was the most known black one..she really dominated the catwalk..her mother was a professional cancer so NAOMI inherited that body from her and she took dance classes for many years...Naomi has been coached by many other models but she credits her mom on teaching her how to walk...the truth is basically NAOMI is a genetic physical beautiful MANIFESTATION...that has been diligently trained to perform at highest and deepest level of HAUTE couture...and her ATTITUDE...dominates the camera.....and catwalk !!!!
I feel like the reason she walks better than anyone else ultimately is bc she has 5000% confidence in every single movement of her body. When you see stiffness in models you can tell its coming from a place of insecurity. Who can blame them, but Naomi's mastered how to let all of it go and let her nerves and body flow natutally
She comes from a dance background which gives her so much control over her body. She's from that generation where a young girl had to work tirelessly and want it--a time when being a world class model used to carry more respect. There are definitely exceptions, but I feel like a lot of the newest wave of models are legacy celebrities who don't have the drive or talent to do what their parents accomplished -and they don't want to go to university-so modeling was their fallback career. Naomi comes across as a diva to some, but she worked to turn her modeling into an art form. She didn't have parents who could call a designer and have her dumped on a runway or get her a guaranteed interview with a clothing line--Naomi came from a dysfunctional upbringing and was extremely lonely during her early years-the only way she was going to make it was by being better than everyone else, plain and simple. And that's exactly what she did.
+S Hansson thanks, and yeah I cringe when I see things like the Kendall Jenner quote about how her family's connections made it harder for her to be successful. Her argument was that expectations are higher when she gets guaranteed interviews and tryouts for designers. What never crossed her mind is that thousands of girls work themselves to the point of a nervous breakdown and never even get a first-round consideration to be the face of Estée Lauder. Even just being in a position of guaranteed consideration is a luxury that thousands of girls lack. Like give credit where credit is due. That's something I admire in Naomi--her continued loyalty and gratitude to the lines that put her in a position to shine based on her gift. And even with where she is today, she thinks "supermodel" is a tacky phrase--she proudly declares herself grateful to be a "working model." Mad respect right there.
Naomi knows exactly the art of catwalking. For other models, it's their time to shine. For Naomi, it's bringing the clothes to her diva level and not making click-clack sounds in the catwalk. It's a shame to compare other models to Naomi. It's like comparing a college student to the one who has PhD.
Moha Mo she even has different walks on different outfits. Either she must be very smart to understand her outfits or she did spend time on knowing them. Her attitude was never my cup of tea, but straigt fact, she is an extraordinary model and she set the standard of how it should be done.
NW Everman Where’d you get that 😩 Heels are some of the worst for your posture, and actually pretty bad for you. But I don’t need them anyway, I’m almost a foot taller than you 😅
The reason the age of the supermodel is over, is because now you don't have to be classy, sexy and alluring. You just have to be thin. These women weren't gaunt, starved glassy eyed robots struggling to stay conscious while walking. These women were fierce and strong. And they felt it, they knew it.
They were still thin. Remember that this was the period of heroin chic. They had all that personality and class, but they were still thin, because these women are pretty much athletes, dancers and actors on top of models, and it’s hard to train that much and maintain a fuller figure. Let’s not shame people who are naturally slender. They’re beautiful and elegant and not gaunt, semi-conscious robots.
For people that keep mentioning the models’ weight, I just want to say I’m so happy and grateful for all of you that don’t have a job where you feel like starving yourself is your only choice. 😊
@@ohwellwhateverr You’re right that Naomi was in the heroin chic era however she did not represent it. Kate Moss is the one who started the heroin chic trend. However Naomi, along with Christy, Cindy and others were a part of the more athletic and classy supermodels who started the supermodel era. I agree with your point on not criticising other women though
I was just watching Kendal, Gigi , Bella and cara catwalk and kept seeing ppl saying how they ain’t shit compared to Naomi Campbell i didn’t get it till now holly god she’s def queen
The best part? She actually has expressions. Modelling isnt about havingva poker face on and just waking. Shes showcasing the clothes shes wearing with herself, as her ownself. Truly no other model can compare.
+kane fatoumata Tyra Banks's walk is more theatrical which suits her so much in Victoria's secret whereas Naomi is a true High Fashion and overall Queen of catwalk.
She ACTUALLY did get a tip from Naomi before walking this year's Victoria's secret show. It's either she wasn't listening or just couldn't follow Naomi's tip. Lol
+Aizen Knaik ...... The fact Gigi got tips from Naomi and still walked that way.... Idk my first impression of Naomi was, "Wow." And seeing that Gigi tried to learn from her was like nope.
+Yvonne L I can't believe that like my brain cannot fathom that Gigi's walk is somehow inspired by Naomi's.. She's stunning in editorials but girl can't walk, she's so damn clumsy I can't watch her 😂
God damn it..the way she walks, that confidence, the way she looks forward... this woman is unique on this game and she's already a legend...legends walk like that.
Every time she walked down that runway she said this is for every cocoa chocolate Hershey caramel mocha coffee Black Woman ALIVE! her walk says I AM YOU! 😘😘😘
She really articulates that message....I think that that is her hypnotic hold on anyone watching her...JAMES BALDWIN...basically said the same thing about MALCOLM X...NAOMI....is articulating what black people are FEELING....when she walks...she articulates what it means....to be BLACK !!!!
Abigail Cara delevingne is fine she works hard but Gigi and Kendall its a joke even tho I like Gigi at least but like her walk its just not freaking hf
Xcool girl StyleX Cara Delevingne can't walk for shit. She also bought her career seeing as she's from a really well connected aristocratic family. Her face are her saving grace since she's also short.
Remember she studied as a dancer. She was in a Boy GEORGE video while studying dancing before she began modeling. She knows her body and how to move it to orgasmic perfection on the runway. No one has ever done it better or ever will.
+Moolly You only have to look at models on the runway before Naomi (and unfortunately today as well ) it was walk stiffly one foot in front of the other , head up and turn and continue back down the runway like a stick. There was Pat Cleveland another model of color of the 70's who was animated and whimsical at times on the runway , but nothing like Naomi who brought sensuality and classy sexual energy into a high fashion walk. That's not easy to do without looking like a hoochie mamma. That's why designers still love her to this day because she can breathe life into their clothes while looking like a goddess doing so
She prowls like a panther. She moves so naturally. She just glides over the floor with so much sexyness. Check from about 00:45 :) If you compare her to Tyra Banks you will notice that Tyra is 'bouncing' more whilst Naomi has this constant flow over the floor.... And it is a plus that her body is amazing!
The ultimate epitome of a "MODEL". The body is so balanced; waist, back, hips, legs, thighs, arms and neck. They should clone this badass chick and sell it. She would make millions of dollars for her DNA!
guys it's not difficult to find the song, the singer is saying its a hustle it's a game for like hundred times .....the name of the song is: its a hustle by cash
When I was younger, my mom wanted me to have fairer and lighter skin. I learned to embrace having brown skin thanks to Naomi Campbell. Naomi taught me that beauty isn't superfical as our skin color.
i love her walk i remember i used to copy their walk at a young age. Now i think how come i didn’t walk like the ones who walk today 😂 Now I know why. (no i don’t model for living though)
I am Brazilian and not afraid to say Gisele's walk can't even compare to Naomi's. Naomi is the ultimate supermodel, still alive and kicking in magazines and the runway.
Naomi comes from a generation of models that in comparison to today's models each model was a unique supermodel in her own right. You had to be unique to even be able to walk . Cookie cutter was not allowed un like today where scouts look for the younger version of the last boring successful model to come through usually nowadays in the outlands of Russia. She Linda and Christy just happened to be the cream of the crop of an exclusive group of runway girls fashion will never see the likes of again such as Cindy, kate , Veronica ,Yasmeen, Claudia , Beverly Peele, ,Shalom , Helena etc. and to think there was a time when to have all these magnificent girls and more for one show was the norm. Smh
Erin Oconnor was not from the same generation. Shes a late 90s model, which by the time fashion was into the heroin chic look. The OG supermodels were all about glamor. Beverly Pelee shouldnt be included in this list. She got no where near the demand and success of the models you listed. Kate Moss was after the generation of the OG supermodels but her stamp in fashion is undeniably impactful.
Fantastic video! Damn, Naomi really does have the perfect body. She's thin, yet at the same time, she's voluptuous. Her body is amazing. She's really a perfect model. Plus her face is beautiful. She looks like a doll.
You did that with this video!!! I remember watching it years ago and dying and here I am again lorddd 😩 Naomi will always be The Supermodel, no matter how many years pass by. No one will ever be at her level! ❤🙌🏼
If they allowed more black models they would model for yrs too. I think they see black girls as a threat tbh. I'm not black but I'm again this stupid racist industry. In the 90s there were more women of colour
+straight jacket well first stop saying all the nonsense like black women and white women. plus black women have amazing genes and body they have all that jazz. look at naomi she is effortless when walking i haven't seen a women walk like that on the runway for a long time now
The amazing supermodel days.... Extreme confidence, elegance and class. Today they walk like robots, scared robots. These supermodels were only about 5 world over! Naomi was the queen.... She will be forever remembered. Love from Kenya 🇰🇪
One thing that I think makes her walking so elegant is that she steps onto a completely straight leg in these clips which makes for a very clean, graceful look from the side view. A lot of models bend their knees when stepping (most do) which can be less harmful to the knee but Naomi is capable of keeping her leg straight even in those high heels. It’s pretty incredible to watch. I feel like it’s always the models who studied ballet who are the most graceful, such as Shalom, Naomi, and Karlie Kloss, (and others) because the technique gives them such a natural, beautiful flow and teaches them how to make such gorgeous lines. But I think all models have something unique to show, and are individually talented.
Naomi Campbell is my all time fave. She has this powerful walk, that makes her stand out. She's a leader on the catwalk. She also has a fantastic accent. Gotta love her! She's a queen✌😘
What I love about Naomi is that she accomplishes both being the center of attention and showing the clothes and make them look beautiful. Many models can only do one. She does it all and effortless.
I didnt know u could walk like this... like all the models on the rinway dont even make any excess moves they just walk deadly because thats what they have to do
