Join me for a walking tour of this once problem child front yard. My future customers have had constant issues with keeping things healthy and alive. After diagnosing the problem its transformed into the front yard of their dreams. Ill link one of my video’s below that helped identify the problem and kept my clients hiring contractor after contractor to fix this problem. If you’d like a better idea of plant and trees that thrive in our Florida Climate check out the tour with labeled names on the screen. #melbourne #stuart #Vero Beach #Sebastian #Frontyard landscape #Florida Landscape

I would love to see a garden on a smaller budget, maybe something that could be done in stages. Example step one, two, three to eventually get the lush private oasis. Thank you for sharing!!

Beautiful. We recently removed budha belly bamboo and want to plant some kind of dwarf palm. Do they have non invasive roots? The main sewer line runs under the area to plant.

I don’t live in Florida but I was wondering, do people plant trees on the other side of the sidewalk? Closer to the street? We do up north and I just think it’s another opportunity to plant another tree.

Beautiful job….I’m sure your clients are thrilled they’re finally able to grow plants in the ground! I’m in Florida on the west coast near Tampa. I love the way rocks look in beds but I’ve heard they heat up too much in our weather and affect the survival of plants. You’ve had much experience with rocks in hot Florida I’m sure, so what is your take on rocks heating up and burning/killing plants in Florida?
@stylewithlivingart
@stylewithlivingart Год назад
Great question, yes rocks do keep the heat of the day and that heat can bounce off onto the plants as a heat reflector. Rock beds do best when they are irrigated longer then mulch beds to help the plant from drying out. Average irrigation for a rock bed should be 3-4 times per week for 20-30 min throughout the summer months. More if in full sun.

You do an amazing job, I m loving the tropical foliage designs you create. Too bad you don’t work in the Odessa area of Tampa. But I’m learning just watching your videos. Keep up the good work 👍👏

Amazing work! We are building in vero beach in bent pine. We would love to see if you could possibly do our landscaping when the home is ready for that. Me and partner think this landscaping job is what we were looking for. Strike a great balance. We would want some changes of course. But you do amazing. Plus we love supporting local businesses in the area we are moving to.

Love those triple bottle palms - one of my favorites. Also love the way you add continuity to a yard with your "rinse and repeat". How long ago did you plant the yard? And when you bring in new soil, does it end up mixing with the old, or will it stay on top?
@stylewithlivingart
@stylewithlivingart Год назад
Great questions Chica so this was planted about 7- 8- months ago and when we bring in new soil we remove 3-6” of the old soil and blend it into the existing soil bed as well as back fill all plants and tree holes while planting. between that and the actual planting it blends pretty well.

Love the orchid trees. They definitely deserve more use. Tropical flowering trees are some of my favorites. Do you ever use tabebuias/trumpet trees in your designs?
@stylewithlivingart
@stylewithlivingart 10 месяцев назад
Yes I do! I’ve had little trouble with the tab trees in the past. Our winds seem to keep them leaning so I don’t use them as often however beautiful trees.

I love all of your ideas!! For someone the just bought a home and don’t have the budget for a big landscaping project. What would you recommend? I’m in South palm beach county. My home has a big yard and I’d like to start planting but I have no idea where to start. Could you do a video about steps someone should take to start? The Dos and Donts
@stylewithlivingart
@stylewithlivingart 11 месяцев назад
Great idea!! Id start with the big items even if its one at a time, getting the big guys in will really encourage you to keep going. Usually that starts with the front corners of the home if your doing palms start as big as you can this way when your budget allows you can start planting under them. Too long to explain in the reply when I'm able to do a video Ill send you the link. Meanwhile good luck to you!

What type of rock mulch do you typically use? Do you recommend any rubber mulch?
@stylewithlivingart

Hello Dina, I like the dark brown cocoa mulch its a hard wood and I hardly ever have bug issues with it. I like the Tahitian Grey stone and Rainbow White river rock. Those are my favorites to work with in the garden.

Do you have any vidoeo on soil amendments and what you typically use? Ive been tilling in Jungle Growth brand along with peat moss and black kow brand compost and often just plane Top Soil sold at Lowes. Is there a better “recipe”?

I want to have something done to my yard, but I never see anyone talk about prices. I know they want people to call for quotes but I just want a price range guess is all. Any have insights?
@stylewithlivingart
@stylewithlivingart 6 месяцев назад
Such a great question and pretty hard to determine. There are so many variables I've had a simple front yard be $5,000 refresh and same size yard be 30,000 project. I guess Id say have a budget in mind like between 2-4000 or 4-6,000 or 6-10,000 and so on depending on the project. Then let the landscaper explain within that range what he can achieve. Hope that helps some. Good Luck!

Why was everything dying on them? Any idea?
@stylewithlivingart
@stylewithlivingart Год назад
Yes, once I did a soil sample, we realized the pH was off the charts so we added the amendments necessary and change the drainage. The area held a little too much water. Soil sample is the best way to go when trying to diagnose a problem. Check with your county extension office they will help you read it and discuss what's needed to rectify the issue if you are not having a landscaper help you with the problem.

Did it die because the homeowners never took care of it or other issues? Plants are not furniture.
@stylewithlivingart
@stylewithlivingart 8 месяцев назад
No they truly have a mind of their own lol. The previous company did no soil prep and their soil PH was incredibly high leaving the plants with little to no nutrients so they just wilted away pretty much. :(
