This is a look at 6th Street in Austin on a Wednesday right after the 4th of July. It's a bit of a slower night on sixth street, because not every night is a Friday or Saturday with drunk people fighting on the street out here.
Sixth Street is a famous and vibrant and historic entertainment district. It's a major hub for SXSW with parties and showcases outside and inside in the bars and clubs. It's also the location of Joe Rogan's new club called The Comedy Mothership 2:34. It's regarded as shady or ghetto by people who live in Austin and it's likely that a drunken bender on sixth street with result in some regret. It's called "dirty sixth street" by locals.
Since I took a Lyft, my goal was to bar hop and check out live music all along the street. I started off in Friends Bar and then moved to San Jac Saloon, Jack's Upstairs Bar, Blind Pig Pub and Darwin's Piano Bar. It was kinda a lame night on sixth street because people were busy being lame eating hot dogs and watching fireworks and doing family stuff the day before. But it's probably better than going on a Friday or Saturday night when things get wild over there. Earlier in the day I played a gig at Industry near East Sixth Street. Good times.
