I follow you on Instagram! The slow motion videos are cool but let’s see more overlanding videos! I’m currently building out my gx470. See you on the trail!
I must say, you strike me as brilliant. The building is truly astounding but you’re level of self sufficiency and personal contributions to the final product are most impressive. Really amazing to see. Must be a comfortable feeling knowing you have the knowledge and equipment to enjoy adventures and be ready for any Black Swan life May hold!
I really like the way you present! Informal, confident, not annoying at all. You have all the technical jargon and you don't say 'um'. This is one of the best rig walkarounds I've seen, and I watch a lot of them! Ronny Dahl took over 7 years to get to a level equal to yours with his Modified series, and you've done it in 1 video. If this is your first stab at YT, please consider doing some more! I'd readily support your content!
Your build is genius. Particularly loved how you thought out the kitchen space that allowed practicality, as well as the “office”, a WOW moment for me. Thanks for the inspiration!
That shovel is a life saver if you ever have to bury a body. And I like the full size tire idea with the trash on the back.. That really helps keep the rig smelling fresh and clean. Love the set up man.
@@suzyrottencrotch5132 yep, I thought the same thing. Shill confirmed. But don't tell these sensitive teenagers in the comments they get really upset :P LOL
Beautiful video! My Filipino wife loved it and knew nothing about overlanding until your vid popped up. I bought her the 2023 GX460! We’re hooked on your journey!❤️
I am blown away by all the additional add-ons you have done to your GX470! My son recently introduced me to this vehicle, and of course, I'm in Love! I would love to know how to do some of these conversions or where to buy some of this equipment. This video was inspirational and gave me more drive than ever to take life on the road to make memories. Thank you!
Sent over here by Leave Her Wild. She just bought a Lexus and wants it all decked out like yours. I have never seen anything like this build. It is so complete and super awesome.
I bought an ISF last year, first toyota product and I’m hooked. Here I am looking for my next Lexus and this is giving me all the motivation I need to build one of these. Absolutely awesome dude
I really like all that you did. I was not expecting the running water, the solar panels and all that tech. Oh to be young again!!! I can only imagine all the things I would do. Stay safe you really are creative and brave!!!!
You should make a video explaining your water set up i'm sure a lot of people would find it useful. I've been kicking around a similar idea but instead of a water container it would be a large thick water bladder (hoping that would reduce the sound of water sloshing around).
This guy is clearly innovative and I'm sure mistakes were made. But you can see the final result which is amazing. I applaud all your hard work and creativity. But I just want to know if two people can sleep up top. :)
The world is yours Mike! Your set up is truly inspiring & you're definitely one underrated nomad (from which people should be taking notes from) Safe Travels hoping to see a lot more travel experiences & just overall your experiences with the world!
Everything about this is my dream. The GX470, the rooftop tent, roaming the nature of the U.S. What I would give to have this lifestyle when I'm older.
Thanks! I actually have plans to redo the box later this year which will be a perfect opportunity to film more. I do have a small video of how its designed on Instagram TV (IGTV) though! @goingfarther, the "Back in time: Sketching out the build".
Fantastic build. Really curious about your background, there's a fair number of technically difficult design elements you have there. Was this 100% DIY, if so that's pretty impressive both in selection and implementation.
I was curious of this too. I am watching more and more of these type things, including sailing set ups. Just seems like people that are already well off from their parents and can go do stuff like this and become "influencers". This stuff is mostly unrealistic for most people to do a 6 month to a year trip like that to NZ and then come back and build this. The truck alone was probably $15k without being built out or having some major maintenance done.
@@robertm4050 well in his defense. He’s not spending money on a house. And it’s not a 75k car either. I’d imagine if he were loaded he wouldn’t get a 15 year old Lexus. That being said. I want, I’m actually selling my newer vehicle (Tacoma) to get out of payments and find a clean gx470. It’s not what you make it’s what you spend.
Thanks! 100% DIY, took a lot of research and looking up van builds. Background: I’ve been working on cars most of my life, and I’m a software engineer. This is just another puzzle to me!
@@robertm4050 most people that do this are software engineers and why they can work remote and they’re smart so this wouldn’t be hard for them to do and they probably make $300k a year and he’s living like a homeless person so 😂
@@cptchuff2741 every time the whole 2 months you have had it then? If you think a ford compares or outperforms a Yota in reliability... you know nothing. Basically ford is almost last on the reliability scale. Ask people who actually work on cars a lot. In fact I am not sure I have ever even seen a ford deep in the mountains. Hell I can't remember the last time I saw a 90's Bronco on the STREET. My 36 year old Yota will still be plugging right along when you are getting rid of your next 3 fords. Enjoy your fantasy while it lasts. Also.. You probably pay more in gas than me in 2 years than I paid for my entire rig to begin with lol.
@@weeral1 Why are you Toyota fanboys so angry all the time? The reason you never see Broncos back there is because all your Toyota fanboy friends won't get a Ford because they think they are unreliable. Well I'll tell ya this, like has a 351 cubic inch V8 that makes 340 pound feet of torque. It actually sounds cool too unlike your rusty frame death trap with a V4 that struggles to over a speed bump. And vehicles no matter what age need work. Your Toyota will break down on you someday as will my Bronco. It's about fixing the car before it happens. And I saw two Broncos and 8 F150's from the 90's on my road trip a few weeks ago. Parts are easy and cheap to fine unlike your Toyota as I imagine parts are hard to find because all the frames rotted out. That's a good question actually why do I never see Toyota's older than 15 in Maine? Oh yeah because they don't have a frame anymore and are death traps to drive because they are tiny. So I'll happy drive my Bronco by the body shop when you are getting a frame replacement.
Being an old man (71) I’m envious as hell! I am guessing your age at 26-28 but I don’t know for sure. Aut your age I did have the money to buy anything with shiny paint let alone a Lexus! I had to shop for sleeping bags, Coleman stove, but had to work to make that happen. Great that you can afford all the goodies. When your old like me you can reflect back on these time. I’ve got lots of money now but don’t have the physical abilities needed to manage what you doing. Thanks for sharing…
Wishing insinuates something isn't possible. You can,... just figure out how to obtain that level of financial freedom and be consistent towards your goals and get rid of bad financial habits. Good luck 🍻
@@nathanjames7843 bro, he isn’t financially freed. He still is working, just remote. He doesn’t have enough $$ saved up to support this hobby of his without having to work. And when you HAVE to work, you aren’t free financially.
Mike my phone heard me talking about wanting to do this to my gf. Then the algorithm showed me your reel on Instagram and I liked it. NOW RU-vid RECOMMEND SHOWED ME YOU. 1. Ur riding the algorithm keep it up 2. They’re listening to all of us
Big props to keeping everything so clean and tidy! Definitely the cleanest off-road rig around. Hope to see more videos from your adventures soon. Cheers!
That's so handy and affordable. Everyone askes you to buy a fancy RV but not many people tell you to go with a relatively small car like this. Great video, thanks for sharing.
I have a 2009 GMC Yukon. Ive watched a lot of videos on what to do to have me a travel home. Everything from buying a RV to pull campers. To keep things cheap and simple I’ve wanted to just use my truck. I think this tent on top thing s perfect. I may have found my answer. Thank you goingfurther.
Just ordered a ‘21 4Runner TRD Pro last week and can’t wait to receive deliver.... I am noob so I’ve been watching videos of overlanding builds to get ideas. I like how you made it look so simple and yet very functional. I am subscribing so I can follow your journey to try to learn something from your experience outdoors. 👍✌️🇨🇦
@marxist google It's an LC 120. Proper overland vehicle on frame with low range, although designed and used mostly to cruise around town, but it's a great base for off road mods. And it's very far from being cheap
wait WHAT dude you are dropping MASSIVE knowledge in this video, not just for van goers for those who live in rural areas...30 mbps and zoom calls in a national park???? there are people living in areas of this country who can barely get 10 mbps...rechargable and removable solar power?? really makes an old fashioned diesel powered UPS seem so gross!! I sincerely hope you are teaching this to people everywhere, these are all huge tips that could make SEDENTARY life in some areas so much better, let alone van life
Asking this because I want to educate myself--all the stuff you equipped your car with look super expensive, how did you afford all that? I suppose living on the road isn't as expensive as renting an apartment but how do you even start? How long did you build your mobile home before you "moved in"? Thanks for the video, very enlightening. :) safe travels!
MIKE! So awesome! I just bought a Lexus 2016 NX200t F sport from a friend and was checking on the RU-vids about a camping set up and VIOLA! Low and behold I came across your video and I was like, "WAIT! I KNOW THAT GUY!" So glad to see you're doing well. Can't wait to see more from your travels and adventures. Thanks for the ideas too for my new rig. Can't wait to get on out there and begin exploring! - Rocky, San Diego
@@azoique Because Spain is awesome, just as having a solid roof and a proper shitter. 50k for a decent flat, and 10 for a decent car to go seek for those famous adventures and you're set.
