A Wardrobe Malfunction Took Over a Mean Girls Scene 

"Hi. Nice jacket."

YOOOO I was at this performance!! It was hilarious. The audience couldn't even really tell something was wrong until all the actors started laughing. Unforgettable moment.

I was at this show! It was incredibly hilarious and honestly one of the funniest things I've ever witnessed. Honestly, the best part was Grey Henson attempting to naturally fall to his knees to button the bottom of the jacket, with Erika furiously buttoning the top at the same time. Really showed the dedication of the actors and it just reminds you it's real live people in front of you.

Barrett, She is beauty She is grace But most likely, she will toss a jacket on your face.

I was in the audience that day!! I was pretty far away and didn't realize what was happening until Barrett started putting her jacket on Erika. I remember Erika breaking the 4th wall and bowing after Ashley said "Nice jacket." It was amazing.

I was at this show! None of us realized what was going on until we saw Barrett trying to tie up Erika's shirt--I really thought Cady was wearing some kind of flesh-toned crop top. They managed it really well.

I guess you can say it’s now... BRA-dway

Amazing story but side note: i am so happy that even on broadway, the intercome thingy is referred to as the "god mic"

This story takes the cake for so many reasons.

I thought she was going to tell the story about when she tried to get up and the blanket got snagged on her buttons on her jacket, and she got permission to cut off all buttons from her jackets

Ah, this just shows how much "the show must go on". You can really see the talent of actors and actresses when they pull these ad-libbed scenes off. Kudos!!

Barrett is just so great. Really wish I could see this show, but I can’t wait for the soundtrack. I wish this was on camera ahaha!! I love this haha ❤️

this isn't supposed to be mean but it's just really fitting to (to me at least) that this happened to Kadie in the mean girls musical, and once again Janice and Damian come to her rescue

I would honestly pay more to go to a show where something memorable and crazy happened that caused the cast to break character. And no, not just this particular topless memorable thing. Those memories are worth their weight in gold for the cast and the audience, and you always remember them the longest and most vividly. They sounded like they handled it like champs and turned it into a funny joke that was a wink and a nod to the audience, but also kept going through with the scene as it was staged. Good job!

when they were like "ladies and gentlemen we're going to have to hold for a technical difficultly" barrett should have just been like "what could you possibly be talking about"

This is one of my favorite things about live theatre!! I loved that rich of adrenaline where you have to improv and think quickly when you’re on stage in front of hundreds of people trying to make them think it’s all part of the show. It’s what makes live theatre so much more difficult then tv/movie acting

Once we did a scene change and a giant cardboard tree fell on me good time

I was in Lion King, I played Nala and my friend who played Pumbaa and I were on stage during the scene when Rafiki comes in and says, “the king has returned.” Unfortunately Rafiki never came because the Zebras were blocking the entrance to the stage. Pumbaa and I had to improv the scene. My friend helped by saying, “uhm maybe Simba gone back...” I replied, “OH YEAH THAT MAKES SENSE!” We then proceeded to look for Simba who came late on his cue🙄

I can relate. Mine wasnt tragic,and it was when i was in 5th grade doing my first kind of theatre thing. I played as ursula as this was a little mermaid play and ursula has this yellow shell necklace that takes ariels voice. I had that which actually glowed when it detected audio. I had to go on for scene eighteen for the poor unfortunate souls reprise and after scene sixteen is where i would take it off but i was distracted voicing a line from behind the curtain like im supposed to that i forgot to get someone to take it off(i had silk gloves on which made it almost impossible to take it off). So i go on for scene eighteen where i talk with triton and make a bargain (let me mention im supposed to be holding the necklace going on in this whole scene)and eventually we agree to the bargain,he gives me his soul,then i have to take the triton,go to the other side of the stage and sing the short reprise,but right before that i realised i didnt have it in my hand and right before i step to say the finishing "unfortunate SOOOOOOOULS" part i had like 2 seconds and in that time i had to think fast and got my close friend(playing as jetsam) standing behind me to take off the necklace and she like SNAPS THE NECKLACE OFF IN LESS THAN A SECOND(she was a life saver oml) and i continue the scene normally. I know was something small and we just went with it,but it still like almost traumatized(?)me. Aight ik this comment was long but i felt like sharing it.

THIS IS SO FUNNY OMG, my craziest performance story is during a song one of my cast mates dislocated her knee onstage, told us to keep going (which some how did not pic up on the mics) and but the me did the sing had popped her knee back in place and got up to finish the scene

i just saw mean girls and fight before revenge party when they pull of the scary costume off of cady her wig went will the costume so they kept going on and erika didn’t have a wig in and then finally they stopped the show to put the wig back on but it was just really funny

Man the struggles of live theatre, and the challenge of staying in character while trying to deal with those things... Just recently we did a production of the tempest, and our gaberdine (under which Caliban and Trinculo hide together) was a kind of blind with a fishnet on top - and during the very last show, when Stephano pulls Trinculo out under the gaberdine, the fishnet was stuck around one of his jacket buttons. So he basically pulled the entire thing with him while trying to continue the scene and couldn't really untangle it. I was playing Caliban so in an inspired moment, I hollered 'Get thy dirty fingers of my gaberdine!', ran towards him und tucked the thing of his Button. Pretty sure the audience was none the wiser but to everyone else it was hilarious. ^^
