As a software developer with interest in electronics but very little actual knowledge, this is an amazing format. More please.

Now I just need to watch "basic survival skills for the post apocalypse for web devs" and "troubleshooting a nuclear power plant for web devs" and I'm all set!

We need to bring back American manufacturing. Says a Canadian from Ontario.

Yea sure. Increase price of product by 20%. I hope your socialist government covers that or puts tariiffs on manufactured imports. Just like how EU is doing now 🎉❤ Be thankful for your colonist minded governments for keeping prices low and outsourcing them to poorer countries!

Once you whipped out that chart, I did the forward lean “oh I’m gonna learn good now” I went mechanical over software post-secondary, and I very much enjoy the way you deliver information, and the way you relate your life when relevant. You are my favourite reccomended content creator

oh wow, I need way more content like this. I'd like to start doing non web stuff, but at the same time, I've been programming for well over a decade, so I definitely don't need an intro to programming at the same time as I get intro to "non-web".

This was a great introduction and got me intrigued. I would love to see a more in depth video on how to interpret the resistance diagrams and how to research the right types of steppers/drivers; as well as how to actually make something happen with the arduino/driver/stepper setup using shell.

I'm not sure how to introduce it, but I just thought id say that magnetic rotary encoders exist, and are absolutely amazing for like... many things. Particularly great for making any open loop application closed loop. They are cheap, and often easy to interface with using I2C. A common ic is the AS5600 for which many breakout boards are available.

Great timing, I discovered OpenSCAD and parametric design and now I'm scavenging for 12v motors and power supplies like a Fallout character. There was a lot of smashing my head on the desk as I adapted to a Functional paradigm, interspersed with explaining my recursive alogorithms to my cat until I understood why they were wrong, but it's made the world of design open to me as someone who prefers to organise their thoughts in code rather than moving shapes with my mouse, and the results can be wonderfully deterministic and reproducible!

Check out ODrive motors and controllers! Very versatile BLDC control. Actually great for a lot of lightweight robotics and manufacturing.

I do mostly web development and have essentially no experience with embedded systems. Your dramatization of how I think about Arduinos is dead-on accurate, lmao. I did actually know what a flyback diode was, though. :)

In the university we studied and used FreeRTOS operating system(kinda like framework for C language) for real time applications, is it still relevant today or is there better alternatives?

Not sure actually, most of the embedded stuff that I've done has been with rather academic from-scratch OSes.
