If your mental health gets really bad before your period you could have something called PMDD premenstrual dysphoric disorder. I don’t have it myself but have heard other people talk about it. Might be worth speaking to your psychiatrist about.

This vlog felt really open, honest and raw which I loved. I'm straight myself but I still love hearing about your coming out journey and your love life and everything in-between. Don't be afraid to share all of you online and in your vlogs (or as much as you feel comfortable with you know what I mean), because I watch them to watch YOU and that means I want to hear about everything. Even the parts you think people don't care about or annoying or whatever, are the parts I love to see! It felt like you really bought your audience in with this video and shared more about yourself then you ever have before! I loved it! Just keep being your real, authentic self and never second guess that!

Hey girl! Just 1:30 in so far and can relate about the pre period moods. I was diagnosed with PMDD last year and it’s heavily related to premenstrual moods and intensity around them. It’s good to know that it’s short term and will pass but it’s so horrible and sometimes scary in the moment. I feel you! I have ADHD man and putting my washing away… kills me. I love washing. Can’t put it away lol I need a podcast on or a reward too! Hahaha whatever works. I then can hyper focus for hours and clean but I have to go with it when I can! The week before my period is HELL WEEK and it scares me too. it’s a thing. 😢

Ask your doctor about PMDD :) I was diagnosed with it a few years ago and started a low dose of lexapro (5mg) and it has changed my lead up to my period!!

Can I suggest something? Turn this Queer Big Sister thing into an actual project to help your community speak about these themes, share stories, meet other queer friends. Use your network and influence to invite speakers from different backgrounds, host something informal. Be active for others and for yourself. It would be so cool to actually channel these feelings, into a space with a lot others that share those feelings too…

the queer friends thing is so real!! i had a big falling out with my only queer friends about a year ago and other than friend breakups being horrible in general, not having queer people to talk to has been so hard :( i also moved recently and don’t have any local friends lol so the introvert/hermit line is very blurry at the moment haha

I feel super sad leading up to my period as well. The only connection I've been able to make in the past is low progesterone, and then I used progesterone cream on the days leading up to my period which did help

All my gay friends came from rugby so maybe look there haha I'm not sure if it's the same way in Australia but definitely in the US

as another single lesbian who is born to be a lover and forced to have ‘casual’ situationships from hinge i feel youuuuu, especially with the lack of romantic attention when i was younger it just feels like i’m so behind! our coming of age teen experiences are really lived out through our 20s 😭

If you don't want to take medication supplementing with Vitamin B6 and Calcium can help with premenstrual mental health issues (I'm a nurse practitioner so I'm not just making this up lol)

Not sure if you have Meetup in Aus, but when I came out (at 25yrs old), joining a queer group that did activities that I also enjoyed (hiking, poetry, photography, etc.) really really helped. I met three great queer friends from that group. I live in SF so the fact that I couldn't find queer friends before that speaks volumes loll. Best of luck babe, you'll always have a friend here.

Girl! I feel the mental health lows before my period is due are WILDLY intense - you are NOT alone! I go to such a dark place that can be scary and the comforting thing is knowing it doesn't last. But it is unsettling and speaking to someone close to you can always help, even just a little bit. Also babe you will not be single forever, you are such a catch and YOUR person will come at the exact right time 💗

I have PMDD. I'd encourage you to look into it if you haven't already. I'm medicated now and it's honestly been life changing. The week pre period used to be so debilitating!

No but I’m a rec before my period I get crazy fatigue, foggy brain and so neaus I actually can’t. Depends if you have hormonal imbalances go get your thyroid checked and checked for pcos. Could be a low seratone thing
