The tool you used on the pigtail day is called the Topsy Tail!! Came out in the early 90s when I was a little girl. My mom used to use it all the time to make styles look cooler than they were 😆

Hey Mell, I know you have a couple summer specific vids, but do you have any styling tips for super hot/dry weather? I see hot/humid tips all the time, but nothing for overly dry climates (like US west coast/southwest region). I’m struggling with a lott of frizz and my curls not lasting through the day
Girl, you are a natural educator/entertainer! That is an awesome combo that not too many possess. You have been my consistent go to since transitioning back to my 3C curls two years ago. I use the entire Aveda Be Curly Line as my hair always seems to respond best to this line. Been considering the Replenish line, but do think it would be too heavy for fine hair?
The pull through thing is called a Topsy Tail - it was super popular in the early 90s and you can totally do it without the tool, just split the pony tail hair in half above the elastic and pull through

I can’t choose my favorite. I adore day 2 with the easy bobby pins. I need my hair off my face. I also love the major 90’s vibe. It’s like my college years turned modern. The bubble pull through is adorable. I’ve always known it as the Topsy Tail type tool. You rock that hat! The look is perfect!
Day 2! Big & voluminous is my favorite! I can’t seem to get my hair into a bun. Having recently stopped straightening my hair, I’m finding it impossible. I would love a bun tutorial.

Listen, the absolute best elastics ever are called Super Bands. They’re actually made for horses but they are hands down the best. No snagging, no snapping, no breaking, no slipping, no problem removing and reusing. Come in a couple colors to match and comes with a band cutter if you need it.

This was great! I love the trick to pull up the hair on the sides to get more volume! It's great in the later days for me too when my hair starts falling flat. Also how to make a sleek bun with old hair for those SOS days haha!

I exercise every day for about 2 hours to the point of being dripping with sweat and I've just about given up on my hair. I also spend a lot of time outside and now that it's hot, I'm always sweating it seems. Washing seems so pointless sometimes because it just gets totally messed up the next day no matter how many products I've used, also somewhat like I'm wasting money because the products just sweat all out. All I've found is people saying to use dry shampoo but that only works but so long until it starts building up or getting gross with sweat the next day. Things were way easier when I was lazy lol
Hey Mell, I have a curly hair question for you. So I have very fine and low porosity hair that's like a 3b 3c curl. It tends to be really dry and sensitive to protein. My issue is that the only way I can do it without being super frizzy and undefined is by using a very strong hold gel and keeping a cast in it, which ways it way down. Is there anything I might be missing or could do to let me style without so much weight?
