It's wonderful to see your progress, and rather inspiring knowing you've climbed out of the Valley of Despair.. Congrats! It's looking like a really fun Adventure to play. Get the Steam page up and I'll wishlist it for sure!

If I were you, I would prioritize the Steam page to try reaching the 7k mark wishlists, to avoid having Steam Shadowban your game. =|

I don't know if any of my suggestions have ever made a difference, but I have a quick one, mostly about writing, mostly about immersion and comedy: I notice occasionally you do fourth-wall breaks or funny slogans or whatever, and I've noticed myself enjoying your style of humor in almost every shot. There was one moment where the character says, "The geometry of the building makes no sense." That's a very "ha ha, I'm making fun of point and click adventure games/cartoons/lazy developers/dramatic tropes" thing to say, but I PERSONALLY think going for something a bit more grounded can be better. For instance, him saying something like, "I don't _understand" the geometry of this building." Now it's less farcical and more a confused character, and a genuine confused character is oftentimes more powerful than a snarky one. That said, not only can a snarky character still be confused, and that can still work, but I also don't know what has happened in the game up this point, so it could be that he keeps seeing odd geometry and this is just his final direct conclusion about the whole nonsensical affair. I guess my point is this: Don't _always_ go for the obvious hardy-har-har line. Sometimes it's worth it to just lean into a bit of sincerity. Again, you might be doing that constantly and I'm totally misinterpreting, or you might have no intention of making any of it serious to any degree, _et cetera_ _ad nauseam._ If you have any thoughts or questions, please don't hesitate to prod me. I'm an aspiring novelist and happy to give of my hard-earned, albeit minuscule, expertise.

@pcd Год назад
Yeah it's a tightrope trying to balance the sincere with the funny - but given what happens in the late game, it makes sense to poke fun at some of the silliness going on. Thanks for watching!

They’re all different! though most animations are between 8-12 frames, usually at around 10 frames per second.

Would be great if you could do something about the physical aspects of your job. Like, Eye strain. I am at the end of my tether. My eyes are KILLING me and I got a really expensive monitor to combat this. Alas. Now I am looking to get some financial assistance to get a short throw projector, fan noise be damed because everything else(e-ink, refresh rate, Rlcd, resolution)and at least that is some direct light avoided. I have been using pc's for decades now.
@pcd
@pcd 4 месяца назад
Only thing I can think of is: have you tried glasses with a blue light filter?
@Patheticbutharmless
@Patheticbutharmless 4 месяца назад
@@pcd yeah. But It is just general eye muscle fatigue after all these years. The LCD/LED era did not help at all. You kno whow the eye completely forfeits all muscular control because the monitor does the work for it(in terms of sharpening) so. No beamer is the last thing for me. Those e-inks(even in color) will come but in about half a decade or so. But once they arrive, with a good refresh rate there will be a collective sigh of relief all over the world. Even from people who never noticed it before.
@Patheticbutharmless
@Patheticbutharmless 4 месяца назад
@@pcd What am I talking about? No it's the light and the light only. Yes, eliminating the blue spectrum helps. There are phototoxic effects. But, generally, it is the strong light emission itself that damages the eye over time by causing atrophy of the eye muscles. At least that's what my optician told me. You have to imagine someone shining a mild flashlight into your eyes, for hours on end, over years. That, of course, cannot be bad. You might think you are watching a video of a cute puppy or whatever but all your eye registers is the light itself.

Good to see you here :) You're developing one of the hardest genres to create: an adventure game... in 2D! Don't be so hard on yourself. Even if you can work just one hour a day on your game, you're still making progress, so celebrate this victory.

sorry if this was already asked: what made you switch from visionaire studio to unity?
@pcd
@pcd Год назад
A couple of reasons! One was that a bunch of people in the channel's discord server use Unity and offered to help troubleshoot. But also, I figured it made sense to familiarise myself with Unity in general, just in case I ever wanted to make any other kind of game.
@puyobock
@puyobock Год назад
@@pcd Thanks a lot for the reply. I’m currently looking at both for a hobby project. I find Unity a bit overwhelming but I see it could be useful to go thru the learning curve for future projects.
