This the first of a few videos that documented our trip to Flathead Lake, Montana. It was the first time we ever set out to "film" a family vacation and if you like it, we will continue to document our trips as we visit different lakes and bays throughout the west. We are by no means professional sailors or video production experts but we do like to have fun and explore. We hope you enjoy it!

Yeah, Tucker just get bigger and bigger all the time. He is in college now so he will miss most adventures on the new boat sadly.

I trailered my Catalina from Mountain Home to Lake Erie and Lake Superior this past summer and had a great time but your trip to Flathead looks absolutely EPIC! This is definitely on my bucket list now!

The 25 is so good for visiting the country. Also look into Coeur D Alene, that had a Flathead Lake type feel.

@@The_Briggs well, I'm currently in a Catalina 22, trying to find a 25 to upgrade into. I'll be looking at one locally on Wednesday. If that one doesn't work out, I have a boat shopping trip to the Portland area planned for the 21st through the 23rd.

Funtosail has a lot of lakes and descriptions on their website. Mostly of Eastern WA and North ID.

I 2nd you're drink holder idea. I usually bring a bottle of something but by the time I'm thirsty I can never find it. It just rolls around all over the cockpit. I usually drink it down when I back at the mooring.

Pretty simple to build, just several layers of 3/4 inch plywood. The hardest part is matching the curve as the deck is not flat.

Was looking at the voltage on your Garmin showing only 12.1 but noticed it looks like you have solar panels... Also nice Magma grill for your trailer sailer.

12.1 is pretty normal on the boat. We are running a lot of electrical and my batteries are slowly ageing. On a day with good sun they will be charged back up. They may also be low as we drove for a whole day running the fridge. We have a nice grill as we normally go out for a week at a time and do a lot of cooking.

2000 Ford F-350 diesel. You hardly notice the trailer.

Did you move your traveler to above the companionway?

Boat check? What is that for? And a beer stop? WHAT, WHAT? To go beer? Open container in a car? I live in the wrong state.. but then it only takes me 20 min to get to the lake and my boats.

The boat checks are for invasive species, I think most western states require them now and they are spotted throughout every state. Missoula was allowing take out beers and cocktails to help out bars during the pandemic. There are a few lakes within 20 minutes of our house but none that we would want to spend a week on.

@@The_Briggs I knew about Zebra Mussels but did not know they check for leeches too. Being from MN it is known some lakes have leeches while others do not. I had one between my toes once, no fun.

I hate government and inspections, but boy do I wish they would have done them down here in Texas. Invasive species are no joke. All it takes is one clown to ruin a lake. 😒

3 checkpoints? Looking for minnows and leeches, yikes no overnight parking car/truck? Horrible wine 30 dingy in tow no life jackets gonna get cited for DUI sailing; LOL; they actually do that kids having fun No squall, no problem But; I actually wanted to see the boat sail, but that's probably impossible if no drone
