Last autumn we drove to Chateau de Lalande in the heart of France, to experienced Chateau life as work-away volunteers, We also did a bit of treasure hunting along the way. @romantiquefrenchlife6450
It is interesting to see La Lande through the eyes of different visitors. I have been watching Stephanie's journey since the early days and feel as though I know everyone at the chateau.
@@romantiquefrenchlife6450 I remember asking you if that was you when Stephanie's vlog went out, and I first found your channel. I wondered where you had been, glad you're back now x
She is the perfect role model for young girls everywhere... if you want to live like a princess in a castle and you don't ever want to get a job and work to pay your bills, then have mommy and daddy pay for you to go to an elite university so you can meet a guy with money, then marry him, divorce him, keep the house and sell it. Then sleep around with guys that have money and then ask a couple ex boyfriends to help you pay for the cheapest castle you can find. When you move into your crumbling castle and you have no money left to pay for urgent repairs, and you still refuse to get a job to pay the bills, then have your mommy and daddy to move in with you and make them spend their retirement savings to pay for the repairs. Then when you have no money to pay for a cook, a gardener, a decorator or a cleaning lady, then have complete strangers stay for months and work for free... in exchange for free food and a place to sleep, like the African slaves that worked for free and were fed and given a place to sleep. And then when you need more money, have a gay friend create a vlog on RU-vid for you and beg complete strangers for charity and send their hard earned dollars every month, to pay your bills. She gets over $41 thousand dollars, in FREE money, every month from complete strangers... that is over $500 thousand dollars a year, as well as a 75% tax deduction from the French government for the restoration costs. The idea that anyone would have the nerve to ask complete strangers to send them half a million dollars every year in charity, so they can swish around in a castle that they could never afford to own, (it is not a listed historical castle of any value, not a stunning castle of any architectural note, and not even a sentimental castle that has been in the family for hundreds of years) is BEYOND disgusting... especially when you consider there are so many children's hospitals and animal shelters desperate for money to save lives. So for all the little girls out there, all you have to do is use rich men, use your parents, use complete strangers and then swish around in your castle, watching everyone else work for free, while you make videos pretending to be a princess.
its amazing to see the Ians still there , the drive not finished and the planting not in the beds round the fountain , looks a lot better now and i can not wait for them to build the balconies , she is sure a much more beautiful girl now and will be much more so with her ball gown on , lalande i mean
Many thanks for sharing your trip. As a long time follower of Chateau de LaLande it was fascinating to see it from a different angle. Good luck with your ventures.
I can't believe you made dinner for all those people with so many dietary restrictions and in such short time. I would have given up in frustration! We rarely give dinners anymore because everyone seems to have some restriction or another. Great job on the painted furniture, too.
I love everything in your shop. Everything you showed I said , " Oh Gosh I love it,...Oh I love that too, Oh I love that "... My dream would be to own a shop just like yours. Absolutely fantastic !!!
I have watched Stephanie's Channel..from the beginning, but looking at it all from your perspective is soo Amazing! Thankyou for sharing it, so many things I did not realize. Such detail in many ways, Stephanie is a complete genius. I hope you do get your very own Chateau. You both seem very charming. Blessings.
Love the different perspective, seeing some things never shown before, and so very happy you enjoyed your stay and were able to help out with the reno!
I remember when you were there at Lalande and how pleased they were with your furniture refinishing. I really enjoyed seeing stephanie's father's paintings all over the walls of the chateau.
Thank you for taking us on a tour of the Chateau showing the finished rooms that we've watched everyone work on for a few years now (yes, I'm a fan)...so nice to see them finished....absolutely gorgeous! Of course I look forward to seeing more of you folks on your journey in France, hopefully purchasing a Chateau of your own.
That was the room I dream of being in at LaLande. It will not happen but it has been my dream since I saw it on the site of Lalande. So comfortable and beautiful. So glad you did gt to stay there and was able to make this trip and visit. Thank you for sharing this trip!
Absolutrtly love this latest peep into the Chateaux and the new shop in Devonport. Both are destinations with wonderful discoveries. Can’t wait for the next chapter when you are in France reporting back.
Hey Tracy, I want you to know that I enjoyed your video very much. I’m looking forward to sitting back this evening in my comfy chair with my little dog and…. watch all your videos! 💕

What an amazing couple. Bet Stephanie & Isabelle were delighted to have you for the weekend. You have a beautiful shop. Look forward to following your travels.
I am also a fan of Chateau Diaries and from Stephanie I get alot more videos to watch from Selmar, Dan the gardener, and many other Chateau diys and videos. Thanks you all, you are lovely.
Great job. Look forward to seeing your place in France and how you decorate. Love your shop. We live in a Victorian Farmhouse on acerage in Western Canada but hope to retire on a Petite Chateau in France. 😍
The Chateau Diaries are the first RU-vid Chateau videos I watched.I love it when you all get together!! Wonderful tour!! The coffee is beautiful.Well done! Love the drive through town on your way home. Your shop is delightful. So many treasures! Love from Vermont
I saw you on the chateau vlog and this popped into my feed this evening! Could go mental in those brocantes with a credit card and a handy shipping container... look forward to seeing your shop when we are down next.
Fun to see an old cast of LaLande characters. The staging in your shop is fantastic and displays your inventory with such creativity. I cannot believe you were expected to prepare dinner for everyone the night you arrived at LaLande! Bravo for addressing so many dietary requests.
(Moira Ashton) That was so interesting, what a lovely Brocant you bought lots of goodies in, The blue green plate you bought, is from Spain, the fruit in the middle of the plate is a Pomegranate- (a Granada) I have a similar plate, and other pieces with the same pattern, I bought here in Southern Spain) hope to see more vlogs from you, 🥰😍🤩
Viewing the chateau through a visitors eyes was wonderful. There was so much detail that the Chateau Diaries skips over because they see it every day, I guess. Thank you for the slow pan around the rooms. Your NZ shop is beautiful and inviting. A wonderful tour!💖😎💖
I remember you from Stephanie’s vlog. It’s lovely to see and hear a little bit about your back story. Enjoyed your vlog, thank you. Looking forward to seeing how your life plans out. ♥️
Your vlog popped up on my RU-vid feed and I love it, and I'm a new subscriber. Your perspective on a stay at La Lande and your work on the furniture projects there was delightful! I think you all do a wonderful job of staging your store with all your finds as well. Looking forward to more of your adventures and shopping tours. Glad to have found you!!! love from Texas.
Especially liked seeing LaLande from your POV....not sure about all the fabric on walls....waking up with a hangover?? LOL ~~ The dietary etcs there are absurd...let em eat cake! ~ Nice bird's eye, indeed.
Thank you for showing us your visit at LaLande! 💗I can never get too much of that place. 💗 Your shop looks delightful! 😍 You have quite an artistic eye. I would be shopping there all the time, if it were here! I have subscribed and will enjoy watching your future exploits. 😊
How lovely to see your Lalande visit through your eyes! I loved seeing you two when you were on Chateau Diaries, I was shouting "yay! fellow Kiwis!!" at my laptop screen. I'm a massive Lalande fan too
they held Stephanie's mother Isabelle's marriage in that chapel and the old family come back to pray there too , it needs work but covid slowed it down , hopefully the restoration will start very soon now the restrictions are lifting a bit
Hello, Your beautiful video was absolutely delightful. Thank you. Such, marvellous finds in the Brocrante. Gosh, you were, certainly stars in Lalande, and worked, so hard for, your supper and beautiful bedroom. But i am sure it was a super interesting experience and you both, much appreciated. Your boutique is beautifully displayed with wonderful peices. Is, antique Frenc shabby chic, furniture and accessories, loved in New Zealand? All the, very best good fortune with, your home in France. I look forward to your next videos. X
Saw you both at de lalande last year in Stephanie's chateau dairies. Hiw cool to see you again from Lisa in Whakatane. Will have to look tour shop up online

I’m amazed that you were allowed to travel and then get into France, then stay and also made it back in to NZ and also managed to have all your treasures shipped, I wasn’t getting the simplest post from the USA! Lovely to see such gadding about, and to see chateaux life from another side.
We have just made it back again. Vaccinated and covid free. It does help to have a house where we can hide away and of course we are extra vigilant. The container takes a lot longer and twice the price but we are running out of stock in Nz. It is lovely to be back. Thanks for your comments x
@@romantiquefrenchlife6450 OMG! Maida and I were on the tango scene together in New York! Currently I live right outside of New Orleans. If you see her give her my love and a big tango hug. My name is Valorie Hart. The world of tango is a wonderful cozy place.
The volunteers do. They have some live in on a permanent basis which have become friends as well. 5 hours of work per day which is reasonable. You get bed and food for that. And staying in a beautiful place.
Absolutely fascinating. Ito follow Chateau Diaries. I am a chef, event planner and designer. I have taught so much craft and chalk painting ect.. I teach cooking as well.. I love anything creative. I to will return to France, if you ever want someone in France to help let me know, Id go in a heart beat.
@@romantiquefrenchlife6450 That great I am hard working and have a good eye, i have been in hospitality for years so no problem house keeping or anything. Also have done nursing so that's handy. Love cooking and organizing events. Yes very exciting.
Yes lovely to see Lalande from a through different eyes- and didn't you work hard! I think I would just come as a guest or I could offer services in the chapel! Gold and white china from the Brocante - can't go wrong!
yes it was hard work but great! We tried to go as a guest but because of covid, they weren't taking anyone just then. We wanted to see how a Chateau is run as we are looking to upgrade oneday. Thanks for watching x
Great video Tracy. How do you get the furniture to New Zealand and how long does it take.Im in South Africa. I'd like to see what your Chateau looks like please.
Hi Amanda, we only have a mini Chateau lol. It's just a townhouse but it is beautiful! Travelling back to France today. There are vlogs on it called 'Romantique French Life ' but we will post more vlogs and you will see it. A LOT of work to do. In reply to your other question. It takes about 6 weeks to get the container sent once it's on the water. It comes in a 20-foot container which Nic and I pack ( and some helpers) ourselves. It's a lot of work but we love our job. Thanks for your questions! xx
There are a lot of beautiful things in your shop! I love that yellow bowl at 27:52. Is So French available online? It was also great to see Lalande from another perspective & to get a room tour. I’ve never seen all the rooms so that helped bring everything together & made it a little easier to visualize as a whole. Thank you for sharing! ❤️
Yes it was taken last September just before we came back to NZ. We have been very slow in editing it as we moved shops and homes. Amazing how quickly things change.
