0:34 Will doesn’t have a degree in psychology, he’s said he’s learned all that stuff from reading Wikipedia articles. He’s also talked many times on life in the world to come about dropping out of college
I know this comment is a little old, but would you tell me where he said the part about Wikipedia? I'm just feeling extremely Some Kind of Emotion about it because that's exactly how I write songs. I scour through Wikipedia following hyperlinks while poetic associations hit me, and I organize those otherwise unrelated concepts on paper until I've got something like a poem. An inside joke I've had with myself for YEARS is that maybe Will Wood does what I do because his lyrics sometimes sound similar to mine what with our wordplay. Sorry this became a little bit of a rant. As I mentioned before, the confirmation of this gives me Some Kind of Emotion. TLDR I would appreciate a source in regards to the part about Wikipedia
@@huntergrammarlyI’m sorry I don’t remember exactly where it was from, but I think it might’ve been on an episode of Life in the World to Come, although I’m not sure which one
Did you know that the main theme in The Main Character comes from “I’ll never amount to anything”? So maybe this song could be more about trying to hide low self-esteem? It seems to fit into the context of the rest of the album imo.
I would like to argue that “Main Character” isn’t literally about being the main character, rather this feeling someone has related to wanting to pretend like they’re super confident in themselves thus the main character, but they’re also slightly self aware that they’re a possibility a jerk.
dude i clicked for silly little will wood video and immediately sobbed after hearing off around the bend, it felt like i got flashbanged but in a very good way - anyways new sub youre underrated as hell man !!!
The fact that you even marked the songs as explicit is amazing detail, if I was a teacher I'd bump you up to the next year in school, sadly I'm just a loser stuck in my own room
3:28 not to keep saying what you got wrong, but Willard is based on the movie/ book of the same name, and the song is supposed to be Will making fun of himself, comparing himself to the protagonist, Willard, a man who has an army of rats and uses them to get revenge on people (sorta)
nice video. one small issue. the presentation did not keep me engaged for long. there were many parts of the presentation in which there was too much time given to a single slide which you can read in two seconds. the slide on 7:15 did not, in fact, give you enough time to read the text. just because you don't like the song, that doesn't mean you can skip forward to the next slide without giving the audience to step back and absorb the information in the aforementioned slide. i was expecting an informative video with the entirety of it being 12 minutes and 17 seconds, but i am saddened to say that i am gravely disappointed. if this was presented to me as a formal presentation which i would have to grade, i would give at most a 4/10. i expect better from you moving forward, Liam. i hope you can understand.
@@Liam2709 thank you for taking into account my (very professional) criticism. i will also keep what you have said in mind for future reference. kind regards, me.
Hi the i/me/myself part isnt true, hes said it himself that the song is about how hes struggled with his gender because he feels guilty for the privelage he has as a cis man
THIS IS RECENT?? This is so fun :0! Been interested in him for a while now, but i’ve been a little intimidated. But!! This eased me into it with a nice comforting tone :]! Thankie Hope u got a good grade
The song Willard by Will Wood is also based off a classic horror movie of the same name with an okay remake, and it covers the same themes and narrative following the titular character Willard in his middle class office job working life as he's mistreated and ostracised by the world so he resorts to taking comfort in befriending street rats which he learns to control, the two important rats being Socrates and Ben, but yeah cool presentation hope you get an A
Wasnt Disney is Birth Control a charity thing, you can find other covers of disney songs by other artists on the album, as far as I know anyways i found it on spotify
I think maybe you could've done a slide on Grief and Euthanasia. It's f^cking heartbreaking and about him coping (in a way) with the death of his rat (i forgot its name)
and i know it was a school project so "half decade hangover" might not be appropriate but it talked about "2012" (drug reference) and "black box warrior" (more drugs)
I can explain. So when i made the video I hadn't heard all of Will's discography I liked a few of his songs. When i was making this video I had not listened to Camp Here & There, In Case I make it, Most of Self-Ish and half of the Normal Album. So that's why
Man, do you stalk for get all that info?- cause HE DONT TALK ABOUT NOTHING lol (And is dificult for me because i dont speak english to much lmao, and the should give you the max note)
I habe changed my mind on my favorite song from both Everything is a lot and Self-ish. For EIAL its Lysergide Daydream and for Self-ish either 2012 or Mr Capgras
good video! massive ww fan here and i personally had no clue about d*sn*y is birth control my only real issue is that [to my knowledge] he doesnt actually have a degree is psychology as he has stated very openly on several occasions [though mostly on his podcast with chris dunne called "life in the world to come"] that he never graduated college so i dont see how he could have a degree still great video nonetheless!
quick little thingy about the land pirates: its just a silly goofy name he went with for the prince ali cover he did for a charity album with a bunch of other artists and thats why they dont have any more songs
