have to go with a childhood favorite.. the evil Wicked Witch of the West! those flying monkeys would also terrify me.. I watched that movie everyday as a kid. 😆
@@the_eerie_faerie_tales Ahhh!! How did I not think of her immediately?? She is so iconic! Between her and the evil hag in Snow White, I was sufficiently traumatized by witches as a kid 😂
This was so sweet but brought tears to my eyes. I lost my mom two years ago to cancer. When I see mothers and daughters together it brings back the memories and pain. You are so wise to enjoy your time with your family while you can. 💕
Ugh this comment!!! Seriously, so beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing this with me. It’s a precious, precious reminder that I will treasure. I appreciate you, friend!
I got my husband to watch this vlog with me, as we both really want to go to Salem ourselves. He said you're a very good presenter! He enjoyed the video. And I agree wholeheartedly. Making myself a list of places to go see when we make our way to Salem ourselves.
Haha thank you so much! It was such a rarity for me to take a trip like this, especially with my mom, and I knew I wanted to capture it forever with a vlog I could always look back on. I’m so glad you loved it!!
Aww I’m so happy I could help in some way 🤍. This was BEAUTIFUL! And my heart was beaming for you. So, so glad you felt the magic! ✨ You and your mom are the cutest!
I can't wait for the rest of your Salem series!! I still want to try out fall time there. I know it's going to be crazy as all heck but it's so essential!!
Looks like such an incredible trip glad you were able to make some amazing memories with your mom thanks for sharing💜 I actually recognized one of the paintings you showed from the museum because it’s on the cover of a book I read last year. Noopiming by Leanne Betasamosake Simpson
I’m currently reading the fifth book of the A Discovery of Witches series. This particular book is set in part in Salem and Ipswich and the main character is a descendent of Bridget Bishop. It’s a very good book series and also the series on TV is excellent.
A book set in an environment and world similar to Salem? Count me in! Thanks so much for sharing with me, friend!! I read Year of the Witching which has similar vibes and loved it!!
If you go back you have to go to more of the historical sites. It really made a difference for my trips. Few interesting things to know: Salem was originally one area and broke up into 2. Salem town and Salem village. The one everyone goes to is not the original. Danvers was the original. Proctors ledge (hanging site), gallows hill and witch house are a must. There a few others that link to the hysteria as well. There's so much to do and places to have fun in Salem. Summer time is my favorite time to visit. I've been there a few times. You'll find many of my recommendations to eat and visit and save money on other youtubers vlogs. I have viewed many Salem vlogs. Derek millen's vids can also give a lot of info as well as Salem app
Happy birthday to your mom! What a nice trip for you to enjoy together. I've been to Salem a couple of times, and it has so much history and beautiful architecture. The shopping and food are great too.
Visiting Salem is a dream of mine - definitely bookmarking this video for whenever I make this dream a reality! It looks like you and your mom had a great time together 😊
I hope you have the opportunity to visit to some day! Just a few days would even be enough to hit up all your top spots in the off-season! Thanks so much for watching :)
Love that we get to see your trip to Salem. I love that you stayed at a haunted hotel. That's what I'd want to do.👻👻 Looks like you ate some good food while you were there, this made me hungry.
Oh, Boy! This was so entertaining. What a great travel vlog. Great shots and editing! You went to during the perfect time. It's hard to take photos and video with other tourists around doing the same thing. Once again, wonderful video...... Say Happy Birthday to your mom!
I can't imagine going to Salem in the fall and trying to pull off this kind of vlog! I would be elbowing people to get a simple photo in front of the Witch House 😂
A wonderful witchy bonding time with your mom. Hope she had a happy birthday. Beautiful city and attractions I am happy you had such a great experience. I remember teaching The Crucible play to my students and it had a profound impact on me, such a tragic point in history.
Working at schools, my students always really loved when their English teachers taught The Crucible!! Specifically because then you were able to get into so many important topics, such as the Cold War and the Witch Trials!!
This seems like such wholesome quality time with your mom! And the foggy vibes were so perfect for Salem. I love the balance of fun shopping Hocus Pocus site seeing, but also care and interest in the history. It seems like a place with such a variety of experiences to offer.
It’s so awesome to connect with folks who appreciate both aesthetic and history! Sometimes that feels like it’s at odds on this platform or I feel like people just want lots of fluff so thank you for embracing all parts of what I share on here. 🥰💜
This was a great video loved it. I wish I coulda experienced Salem with my Mom as I lost her 3 years ago this May. You are right about what you said making those memories with your Mom or loved one. My mom and I are both October girls and I love Halloween and everything magical because of her. Great video 😊🎃😊
I loved this travel vlog so much Lauren, it is so important to spend time with your loved ones! I have always been so fascinated by Salem and the witch trial history. I hope one day I will be able to make my way over to this side of the world! 💜
AH I love seeing places local to me from an outside perspective 🥲 So many cute outfits I love it!! I ALMOST got married at House of Seven Gables but decided against it because it would've been insane in October lol SO glad you went to Coven I want to live in that store Looks like you had a great time! I would definitely recommend coming again in the summer - easier for walking enjoyment and you're near the water so you can enjoy the beaches too!
I am so jealous that you live in Massachusetts. Take me on some vlogging adventures!! hehe. I am soooo obsessed with the architecture 😍 and wowwwww so glad you said no to a wedding in Salem during October. From what I hear from tour guides and shop staff, Salem is like a horror story during fall for me LMAO. I don't know if I can really handle crowds well in my old age 😩
The Salem Witch Trials is a history topic that's endlessly fascinating (and fustrating!!!) for me. I have really enjoyed studying it. Try out season 1 of the Unobscured podcast that's all about the trials!!
THIS! I loved every moment of this vlog, so cozy and exactly what I wanted. I can't wait to get to Salem some day and it's so special you did it with your mom 💜
Ahh!! This looks so magical! ✨🌙 I've only spent one day in Salem but I really loved it! We were in Boston and took the bus/train thing there 😂 and it was a blizzard haha. We only did the Hawthorne house, Witch Museum, and the harbor....I think we went to a comic bookstore too 😂 I really need to go back! That's so cool you got to see all the hocus pocus locations 😍 Great vlog! 🎉
A blizzard?!? The snow life I am not used to as a California girl 😂 It’s so close to you; you definitely need to go back! Was the Witch Museum as ridiculous as I hear it is? Haha
This was so fun and magical to watch! I love that you appreciate the history behind it as well. Also love your sense of humor and your ability to adapt when that huge truck was right in the way. You and your Mom are adorable! I hope she had a great birthday!
Wonderful video…so glad you appreciate your mom. And going to Salem in the off season, you really do get to see so much without the crazy crowds. Salem is an amazing, magical place, and the people are lovely! 🎃💜
This was great Lauren! I went to Salem maybe 15 years ago now but yeah it’s a pretty special place, especially if you’re into history. So glad you had a great time with your mom. What a wonderful memory you two created. ❤
That's so cool that you've gone!! It's become such a tourism hub in that time. It's wild the stories I hear about Salem in the fall... packed streets, lines to enter shops... it's so wild for me to imagine because it was so calm when I was there!
I have been WAITING for this video!!! 😍🙌 I loce that yoy got to travel with your mom. That is so special. Im sure you made memories you both will remember forever 🥰 Your mom is such a cutie! Happy birthday happy haunts momma! 🎂 You are the queen of B roll! 😍 That aura photo is incredible! I definitely need to make my way to salem sometime soon. Thank you for taking us along with you! I always feel like ive been to the places you travel to through your vlogs because theyre so thorough and detailed.
Maddie! That is seriously the best compliment when someone says their vlogs make them feel like they are actually there in real life!!!! THANK YOU! You've made my day 🥰🥰
This vlog is amazing! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Your mom is so lovely and I'm glad you got to enjoy that time with her. Those cannolis looked so good!! The architecture in Salem is stunning and the history is so intriguing. I'm a Hocus Pocus fan and would love to see where some of the movie was filmed. Salem is definitely on my list to visit someday, and I will be sure to go in the off season so it's not so busy. I'm not a fan of crowds. 😂 Thank you so much for sharing! 👻🧙
What an awesome trip!! Loved seeing this all. I'd love to go there one day, but it's highly likely it will never happen. So far from New Zealand to the USA!
Lauren this video was amazing. The editing, the b roll, the trip to salem!!! I'm so happy you did this because well, i can't really travel to Salem easily so i'm very happy you did it. I honestly have no words. i think it's one of my fave videos from you!! You out-did yourself. 8:25 that polaroid is so BEAUTIFUL ✨
Happy birthday to your mom. Pisces queen? 💙♓🐟 It has been my dream to travel here so I am so happy you posted this vlog 😭🙏 IM SCREAMING THE FOG 😩👌💯 7:14 Yea same queen Yas queen with the light blue aura I feel like that's very fitting 8:58 Haul! Haul! Haul! The history behind the witch trials are extremely frustrating and kind of fascinating. The more you know the sadder it gets imo because they really did that just because??? and with no consequences. lol @ ghost tour for the vibes not the history 🤣. That is a constant internal debate I have with myself Heeyyy Frankenstein's monster 🙋♀ The candles are gorgeous!! I would love a video on all the things you wish you would have known before traveling to Salem! 😍 I loved this video so much. You have an eye for the aesthetics! Thank you so much for sharing such an important trip with us! I love your travel vlogs (and videos in general) but this one was 1000/10 🖤✨
I am endlessly fascinated by the Witch Trials! I think it's the frustration that really makes us want to learn more and understand how people can be so damn selfish in their actions!! Ugh I am becoming enraged as I type! haha
This was wonderful! And what a special trip to share with your mom 🖤 I'd love to visit Salem one day and I'll definitely be referring back to this video if I do!
Salem makes my heart so happy!😊 You’re right, it is worth the hype and is a magical place. Also, great work on all your dreamy food shots in this one! Were you using your phone to capture all this footage? I’m so impressed! Between your vlog and the one Midge Munster did not too long ago, I have a handful of new places to go check out the next time I make it out there. Thank you for all your great content Lauren!🖤
Yes I was using my phone! Something that really helped me was looking up the best settings for recording video for my iphone. That really helped amp up the quality!!
Gahhh I love this so much! My first trip was with my mom too and we stayed at the Hawthorne 🥰 also I am OBSESSED with your voice I want you to do audiobooks 😂
I loved watching this video. I am currently researching Salem as I prepare for a trip there with my sisters this September and I found your video super insightful. I was hoping you made the second video about things you wish you had known before your trip but alas I don’t see any other Salem videos. Thank your for sharing your experience!
Thanks so much for watching! I can tell people are gearing up for their Salem trips and doing their research because this video is getting more love than usual. Hopefully I can swing it in my life schedule to post that Salem video. Let me know if you have any specific questions, though!
@@happyhauntslibrary I think most of my questions fall around transportation and walkability. My sisters and I are staying in Beverly and I’m trying to figure out how to get the most out of our time and keeping in mind the train schedule and our individual budgets.
The opening is so cinematic! Between the rain and the fog, you couldn't have planned the atmospheric vibes better! 🎥 Your mom is awesome! Love that you both got to experience this together. 🛩 A+ maneuvering around that truck! I legit wouldn't have even known it was there!🚚 I would love a video about the things you wish you had known prior to going. You've convinced me I need to go when I head up to Boston in a couple of months. I've been resistant to visiting because I was wary of the way the history might be leveraged so it's awesome to have a tour company you recommend. 🤩
Please let me know if you need any specific Salem advice! I have only been there one time but I know we both appreciate good entertainment but never at the expense of historical accuracy!
Absolutely loved this! We did a whirlwind like 4 hours and I definitely need to go back for a much longer stay. The video you mention doing at the end sounds like a great idea! Already making notes of spots to go next time.
Oh my gosh 4 HOURS IN SALEM?? Talk about a whirlwind! Do you live pretty close by it to visit again sometime soon for more time there? I would think 2 days minimum would be sufficient!
@@happyhauntslibrary We just looked it up and we live about 6 hours away, but the reason for the brief trip was we were headed to Rhodes Island and Krista suggested we make the brief detour on our way there. We ran around as best as we could and then headed to our actual destination. We are hoping to go later this year though!
@@happyhauntslibrary Oh it totally isn't, we just hadn't planned that trip really because we had done some other trips, but this year it is the goal. We just have to get it planned.
Oh, Lauren, this was so heartfelt 🥹 Thank you so much for sharing such an important moment in your life with us. I especially loved how vulnerable you were about making the most of the time with your mom. Going to Salem with you would be so amazing because of your passion and historical knowledge. 💜
This is such a beautiful and cinematic video. ❤❤❤ Salem is so beautiful, I felt like I was there with you and your mom. 🤗I can only assume how powerful and atmospheric it is being on the historical grounds of the witch trials. 😔All those food places, the drinks and the shops are works of art. ☺ I love how the weather is misty and rainy, I personally love that type of weather and think it’s very suitable for a tour in Salem. 🌑🌑
Wasn’t it just so atmospheric??? Thanks so much for watching, Maya! I really appreciate it 🥰 it’s actually the best compliment about a vlog to receive from someone that they felt like they were really there with me 🥺
This brought back so many good memories of my husband, my mother, and I Salem's trip. We went back in May 2022. Hopefully, I'll get back there🤞🏻 Salem is truly a magical place loved everything about it!🌙🔮💫 I am a new follower. I'll be watching your other videos soon. Peace, love, and happiness!
Ahhh!! Welcome!! Thank you so much for commenting and sharing your Salem memories with me!! May weather in Salem was probably gorgeous and very little fog, I am assuming 😂
Thanks so much for watching, Kristine!! This has really only ever been my experience on the east coast. It’s so far away from the west coast. A full day of flights is no fun 😂
Such a wholesome trip with your mom ❤ I loved all the visuals in this video!! Felt like I was there eating, shopping and walking around Salem with you 😊
Creators are always the best at appreciating the work that goes into filming and editing 😂 Thank you so much for that. It's probably the longest I spent creating a video, so I really appreciate your kind words!! 💕
