Using a womanist methodological approach, Pamela Lightsey's book "Our Lives Matter - A Womanist Queer Theology" helps readers explore the impact of oppression against Black LBTQ women while introducing them to the emergent intellectual movement known as queer theology.
Pamela is Associate Dean for Community Life and Lifelong Learning, and Clinical Assistant Professor of Contextual Theology and Practice at Boston University School of Theology. She is also a self-identified queer lesbian ordained elder in full connection in the United Methodist Church. A national leader among LGBTQ social justice activists, Dr. Lightsey's writings have appeared in Washington Post (online), Religion Dispatches and Black Theology Journal.

About Our Lives Matter - A Womanist Queer Theology:
bit.ly/1YvDugI
Our Lives Matter uses the tenor of the 2014 national protests that emerged as a response to excessive police force against Black people to frame the book as following the discursive tradition of liberation theologies broadly speaking and womanist theology specifically. The author privileges their narratives and experiences as she reviews several doctrines and dogma of the Christian church. Theological reflection on contemporary debates such as same-sex marriage and ordination rights make this book a valuable resource to clergy, students of theology, LGBTQ persons and allies.

These words from Dr. Lightsey were a lifeline for me last year and I didn’t realize it. I am just so grateful I can now receive these affirmations and the sacredness of Black queer women even better than I did before.

these words still ring true to a up-and-coming religion grad student and black trans girl. the depth and insight available in black queer experiences and womanist theology is increasingly relevant in righting our unjust world. ordering Our Lives Matter today

Just got this book today and read the whole thing in one sitting! Love it and will use it in my Queer Theology course next year. Thank you because I struggled a lot with trying to figure out on my own what makes the black experience of queerness unique. You also do a fascinating job on exploring the historical and cultural usages of the term Queer. Very interesting!

A church or organization can make and break rules as they see fit. When we focus on the God of the Bible and its definition of sin, we must comprehend the end results of a sinful lifestyle. The bible can not be used as a reference to encourage sin when its main purpose is to redeem mankind from a sinful life.
