Day 88 of 'A Year in the Life of a Miniaturist' sees me finalising the roof of my miniature aviary, and getting the dolls house lighting working. To get that copper patina I use a product called Porters Patina Green; I made the roof, painted with copper paint, then dabbed the Porter's product on. I think it gives a great finish. But you do need to use with care as it is acidic (so wear gloves) and gives off fumes (so use where well ventilated).
Roger and I have also spent a few days working on LED's and lighting, so we are starting to wire up the house for that. If you have any questions on LED's just ask; Roger is quite knowledgeable on the subject now, after much trial and error! A big learning for me is that I should have wired up every room during the construction phase. Doing when house is almost finished makes for a lot more work!
Happy miniatures! Regards, Jill.
