Thanks for doing an unsponsored video Ingrid!!! I love it when you just chat to us!!!! It makes me feel like you care! I love empties hauls!!! I always wonder if you tubers continue to use the products.. or just keep trying new ones!! Thank you Ingrid!!
Arnavi Sutaria, I am the same here. I do everything but hair... well I recently went to this new Solon by where I live and turns out my scalp and hair was in really bad shape! which explains why I was loosing so much hair... so my new goal for 2017 is to take care of my hair. I switched my hair routine with more gentle organic shampoo with conditional. I also do treatments once in a while and hair essence daily.
this is a youtuber that work hard in their video! one year of work!! congrats, Ingrid for not being like most of youtubers that once they get millions of subscribers they do low quality videos.
Thank you so much Ingrid for being you and being out. I was so excited and appreciative when you, as a beauty youtuber and someone I admire, decided to share that part of your life. I finally had representation in a community that I still feel is not diverse enough. Finally someone to relate to in several different ways. You have no idea how much it means. Stay awesome. Bree
Yes, I would love to see this again next year!! I find empties hauls to be some of the most useful videos because once someone has gone through a full product, they've had the time to really form their opinion and decide whether or not to buy it again.
Ingrid, I have the same problem with my NARS concealer. I finally used tweezers to pull the rubber stopper out and now I can scrape the sides of the tube.
Thank you for making this! What I love about your channel is when you are super real and upfront, so this was a delight. It was great to hear you talk about things like your gf, your anxiety, and how sponsorship affects your channel. ♥️ In the future, I would LOVE to see you continue to being the realness of your podcast over to your channel more. I know that can be touchy, but I love it. Also, I would LOVE to see you interview / chat with influential people who are doing important things in the world; artists, activists, volunteers, etc. Thank you for being the Queen! ♥️
As someone who also experience breakouts, I really take down notes your recommendations and it helped me a lot! especially the Kiehls clearly corrective and midnight concentrate. 💗
I have such a hard time deciding when to replace my beauty blenders. whenever I do I can tell the difference in application but it always feels so wasteful. loved seeing your year of empties!
It's very kind to share your products that you used in 2016 with us Ingrid, its Nice to see how you care for your hairs etc... that's also why they are beautiful. ☺
2be you. Most lipglosses & concealers that come in tubes all have toppers. This is mostly to contain the product & prevent spillage. However, if you're on your last stretch, you can use tweezers to pop it off and scrape out the remaining product to get your money's worth 😉 Hope this helps!
Nikki Chow what do think about cover girl mascara vs the better than sex mascara❓and cover girl mascara vs the Maybelline mascara❓which mascaras In your opinion are the top and your favorites?
2be you. It depends on what look you're going for 😉 The first thing I normally look at when buying a new mascara is the wand. I personally think that wands are extremely important to application. I like the ones that are thicker and have longer bristles. Some people say that it's harder to reach all the lashes & is harder to control. However, I think if you get the hang of it, it'll get easier. The reason I like the thicker wands with many bristles is because they pick up product better. The ones with plastic wands make it difficult to transfer mascara from the tube to your lashes. The second thing I look for is formulation of the mascara. I personally like them thicker & slightly less wet. This kind of formula is my favourite, because it gives off more voluminous & more lengthy results on your lashes. The thinner, more wet formulas, again, make it difficult to apply the lashes. Which makes you dip back & forth into the tube more often. When you dip the wand in & out more, it dries out the mascara quicker, and you're unable to use the rest of it 😢 The thicker formulas allows you to put on less applications and you won't waste as much product. I've tested the too faced mascara before, and I think it produces good results. However, I think the diorshow blackout mascara is better for your money! It does an excellent job at achieving both length AND volume without clumping too much. It is only $2 more than the too faced one! According to Sephora, too faced is $23 (US) and Dior is $25 (US). Don't let the designer brand frighten you, because the price differences aren't that drastic when it comes to mascara. I personally find myself going back to this mascara despite trying more expensive ones. Too faced in my experienced clumped too easily. The dior one dries at a reasonable pace & has great formulation & versatile wand. I hope this helps! Thank you for asking! It made my day ☺️
Please do again next year! Was such a good breakdown of products and year long "review" of those products! Was also a good reminder to myself about using what you have first and pairing down waste if possible! Thanks for sharing, Ingrid! Happy New Year!
These are the videos I trust on RU-vid. So many people claim they love certain products, mention it once and then you never hear them rave about it again. You kept your empties so I know these are the products you believe in (:
I think this was a really cool idea for a video because it is evidence whenever you do a favorites video how much you actually like the product and it shows how much you've spent over the year on certain things
Also, I really liked the idea of this video and I'd love to see one for 2017 as well. I think it speaks volumes as to how much you enjoyed or used a product, and what kind of lasting hold it has on you. It's also nice to hear how you feel about it after a year, instead of just a month! Pretty cool.
I don't typically enjoy watching empties videos but it was really interesting to watch a years worth of empties!! Crazy how many makeup wipes you used 😂
I really enjoyed this video Ingrid. Please do this again next year. I love watching empties videos and it was so interesting to see a whole year all together.
25:30 a tip for the NARS creamy concealer - i removed the little plastic stopper that scrapes the access product from the wand. when i removed it i used the concealer for a few extra months.
I love that you have so many cruelty free and vegan products and brands. Hope you can continue to feature those brands and that lifestyle with this year.
I use the TRESemme thermal spray too! ... 🤔actually now that I think about it I think I got it because of you lol. You have the best hair! It looks so healthy!!
There is something intensely satisfying about finishing a product, whether it's makeup, hair, hand soap, food... anything. it feels like "Yeah! I used it all and didn't waste a drop!"
I accept the challenge of using up a palette! I have about 7 eyeshadow palettes, some new and some I've had for years and I haven't hit pan on any except for one. I feel that I need to stop purchasing eye palettes and focus on using up what I have before it goes bad. I'd love to see you do a year of empties next year and hopefully palettes that you've used up!
Hello Ingrid, I have a tip for your nars concealer. Put some very warm water, but not boiling, into a mug not to the brim. Put your nars concealer in the mug for a couple of minutes to make the formula just a bit more watery until it slowly melts to the bottom of the tube. let it dry naturally. This works for me with every product. hope this helps
I really liked this video actually, it felt like the sweet, genuine Ingrid we all used to see more often in your older videos. I know you're the same person as always, but I just felt like you were more relaxed and true to yourself here :)
You can take the stopper out of the Nars Concealer. Thats the small plastic piece in the bottle that usually prevents excess product to get on the wand. I do this all the time especially with Concealers and Lip Glosses ☺️
Please do it again next year Ingrid!! I really appreciated this video! Also, can you tell us what eyeshadows, lipstick and bronzer you are wearing in this video please, the whole look is really gorgeous! 😊 xo
I did this for the past few years. it seemed kinda crazy and I don't even do youtube but every year I would take out the bag and by bag I mean HUGE trash bag!.... and spread it all out and take a pic of it all. it's definitely interesting seeing what was the most popular items and rediscover some items. I never thought a youtuber would do this! glad Ingrid did this now I don't feel like a crazy person!
Ingrid, I really enjoyed watching this. What a unique concept to do a year's worth of empties. This makes me want to accumulate mine in the same fashion. Much love, Erin.
For the NARS concealer grab some tweezers and pry off the little rubber stopper part. It does mean a lot of product will come out on the applicator, but still manageable (and worth it for getting the most out of your money!).
Definitely enjoyed seeing your 2016 empties! I need to do this because I don't feel like I actually FINISH a lot of the things I use before moving on to something else. Would love to see a 2017 version too. I'm going to try the palette challenge - such a great idea!
Just wanna throw it out there that you have some of the most original/interesting ideas on RU-vid. I hope you continue to make creative content like this
You should do an updated day/night skincare routine! Or maybe a travel skin care routine/tips for skin while traveling! Every time I leave the mountains my skin freaks out!! I'd love to see your well traveled tips on combating that!!
So strange ... I wasn't sure how I'd like this type of empties video but I liked it a lot, actually I loved it... more than any other I've watched. Thanks. for taking the time to save everything and even more for the great concept! Yes you should do it for 2017 or even annually!!! ❤
You know how all tube products (concealer, liquid lips, glosses, etc) all have stoppers at the neck of the tube to prevent excess product from getting onto the wand? Well I've heard that if you remove the stopper in the NARS concealer, you'll be able to get more product & reach the product on the sides. I haven't reached that point with my NARS concealer so I haven't tried this but hey, it's worth a shot!
Hey Ingrid. I couldn't see all the way down the comments to check if someone has written a suggestion on the NARS Creamy Concealer. At the top of the tube there is a rubber sealing (most similar products will have as a stopper) to ensure no fallout from the tube. I personally had trouble removing the seal but its do-able. Just use tweezers to pry the rubber sealing out (the doe foot will be covered in concealer but the product stays within the tube afterwards). Hope this helps.
I love this idea to save your empties throughout the year. I'm gonna try it this year too.And I might try to finish up an entire palette as well. Loved the video!
Sea salt and lavender is my faaaavourite scent! The bath bomb Big Blue from Lush is sea salt and lavender, and it's particularly good for muscle aches due to the sea salt, I use it post-gym regularly. I also have a matching candle which smells diviiiine.
Ingrid! If you remove the rubber stopper on the NARS concealer after you've think you've finished it you get SO MUCH MORE product out! I pulled it out with some tweezers. Only do this after you've used up as much product as possible though because the stopper helps to scrape off excess concealer when you're removing the brush each time. If you remove the stopper too soon while there's lots of product still in the tube it'll get pretty messy. There are some video tutorials online if you search "how to remove rubber stopper nars concealer"
For the NARS creamy concealer, run the closed tube under warm water for a minute. Melts the concealer on the sides to the bottom where the applicator can reach it!
I also have Tons and Tons of lotions and body sprays, almost all of them received as gifts. My goal for the past few months was to finish them up, which I've been pretty good at. I've used up some lotions and have less than half of each body spray bottle left, making me feel so accomplished! This is helping me declutter counter space on my dresser :)
