At Peace Parks Foundation, we understand that true conservation success lies in impactful partnerships. 🤝 This year was nothing short of phenomenal, with thanks to our dedicated partners and the visionary governments we work with. 🎉
We've entered a pioneering phase of novel conservation models in Africa, which proved a highlight of 2023. With groundbreaking approaches alongside governments, we've strengthened existing projects, and set precedents with two innovative new co-management agreements, one with the Government of Malawi for Nyika National Park and Vwaza Marsh Wildlife Reserve and one with the Government of Zimbabwe for the iconic Greater Mana Pools Ecosystem. This exciting approach ensures the sustainable flow of benefits both to biodiversity and to those living in the landscape, while bringing together NGOs, private sector and communities on an equal footing.
Partner-supported programmes, such as Herding for Health and Blue Action Fund, progressed in leaps and bounds with the implementation and upscaling of some of our most impactful projects.
🦏 With immense credit to our partners, Zinave National Park now boasts herds of both threatened white and critically endangered black rhino. The arrival of an additional 10 rhino, to join last year's 27, signified the third landmark translocation from South Africa. Excitingly, calves of both species were born, testifying to healthy herds. ✨ We also celebrated natural #rewilding as lion migrated and then settled in two parks where we, in partnership with the Mozambique Government, have worked incredibly hard to restore.
Flying high above Mozambique's four parks, aerial wildlife counts revealed encouraging results, with Maputo National Park showing a three-fold increase in numbers and a wider distribution of animals. 🐘🦓
🌐 🙏 Peace Parks' CEO, Werner Myburgh, extends his heartfelt gratitude to our ambitious and committed staff, donors, and funders. Together, we're on course with our mission to secure 980,000 km² of functional transboundary landscapes across southern Africa by 2050. Here's to a future where people and #NatureWithoutBorders thrive! 🕊️🌿

Fantastic to hear of the progress you’re continually making . Great news. Now can you initiate something with the South African government to run the country ?
