Hello Ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching. This is another full 4K video!!! Today we are surprised to receive a call from a viewer and fan from out of state who is working a contract and needs a tow as well as some repairs. Ethan and I take the Little Pete #10 our Peterbilt 337 with a Miller Industries, Century 4024, 20 ton towing and recovery unit to get our new customer's truck back to our shop for repairs. No "ARC" nemesis, but it is raining...so I hope this qualifies as a decent Ron Pratt video. The nut came off the input shaft on the new power divider. Thankfully, the owner of the truck caught the problem before it created too much damage. We are able to get him back on the road and earning money, where he should be. You are blessed to have a son to drive so you can sit in the passenger seat. Let him drive all the time. Let him record videos. Let him do all the things. I lost my 28 year old son in August this year. He died of a traumatic brain injury when a car hit him while he was biking. We are in grief.

I have no words to describe the pain I experience over losing my son Jantzen. He was good and kind and a hard worker. I would have gladly taken his place if I could have. I have been completely humbled. God has me now where he needs me.

Again, I can't imagine what you are feeling. My wife and I were talking to a friend yesterday about how I was dealing with the loss of my dad. Even though it has been difficult, God has used that tragedy and grief to teach me and others. There are also some good things that have come from his death, such as a much stronger relationship between my mother and I. We may never understand the "why", but we can have faith that God will see us through and use such experiences as lessons to strengthen us and/or others.

It is really sad how the country has really went to Hell. When I was a boy, my brother and I would mow lawns to make a few dollars. We'd drag that old mower all over town cutting sometimes as many as 10 yards a day on the weekends and during the Summer. I'd give a lot to see us heading back to those days. Part of our decision was related to cost while another part of our decision was based upon the weight of the bodies for licensing purposes. Also, most, but not all, 5130's are placed on a tandem drive axle set up. We wanted the single axle short wheelbase for some of our tight roads. We just felt the 4024 was a good fit for our purposes at the time and it has proven to be a valued part of our fleet. Thanks for watching and God bless.

20:28 If you stop and think about it, Sears got finished off by the modern revival of their original business model. The failure of modern businesses to adapt to the revival of remote shopping is not the fault of the ones that didn't fail to adapt. Also, Sears had been floundering since the '80s and had run out of assets to sell off back in the early '00s, well before the internet shopping scene took off. They merged with the also failing Kmart around that time, and that went about as well as anyone could have expected. Don't forget that Sears sold their namesake tower back in '88, and Discover Card and Allstate back in '93 in an effort to stay afloat. But they never made significant efforts to figure out what they were doing wrong - much less fix any problems - so they were only delaying the inevitable. My father worked for Sears for over a quarter century and always told me the writing was on the wall all the way back into the '70s and they never heeded it. As to the working part, add the part you've said yourself about how crazy people are today with terrible bosses, add those crazy people in as a literal part of the working conditions and you quickly come to the sum of "minimum wage isn't worth this". I know back when you were a kid it was actually a good wage, but... by those days standards, most payscales today are about 50% low.

Quite the transition from some of the early videos when Ethan went along, to videos like today's. He used to come across as a kid that only tagged along because dad/grandpa made him. I know it does feel strange being in the passenger seat but the more Ethan does things as next in command it will build confidence in his abilities to do other things. You want him to "take ownership" of the business at least on the know how side of things. But I have seen you work from the last 3-4 years you know how to give things up and you understand how to train others.

Ethan is learning pretty well. I've noticed his shifting has gotten a lot smoother. He just needs a little reminder about trying to stop or slow down when loaded on wet, snow or my least favorite, icy roads. Let's hope he remembers before mother nature teaches him the hard way. Over all, he's doing a fine job on learning the family business. I'm sure within a few years, he'll be ready to take over for Dad like you did.

I do not know about out in your area but where I am at the problem with keeping stores open is not that people are not willing to work but the stores are not paying a living wage and the younger generations are not willing to roll over and take it like our generations did.

If you pay your staff more then you have to charge your customers more and most of them won't like that. In a free-market non-monopoly market customers can take their trade elsewhere which, in turn, threatens the viability of the business and the continuity of employment. On the other hand, underpaid staff are unhappy staff and that can adversely affect the customers too.
