Hello!
Here's the third episode of the A-Z Of National Bus Company Subsidiaries. This episode looks not only at Bristol Omnibus but also the subsidiaries of Cheltenham and Gloucester and Badgerline.
Please remember this is a potted history and there may be bits and pieces I've left out. If so, I totally apologise. I always love reading about your memories on the comments, did you work for or travel on Bristol Omnibus, Cheltenham or Badgerline?
If you enjoy the video, please like and share, and don't forget to subscribe to the channel.
Check out my other bus related videos on this channel too.
Bye for now 👋🏻

You learn something every day.I'd always assumed that City Line had sprung from the privatized Bristol municipal bus company rather than out of the NBC.

Thanks for the potted history. A shame that the "management" of these enterprises over the years did not spend more time running an efficient service rather than getting involved in numerous take overs, re-branding exercises, name changing call it what you will while the service standards and ridership declined.

Glad you liked it. Yes unfortunately management have to justify their job and the only way they can do that is through change...

The Cheltenham & Gloucester liveries were all introduced at the time that the company was created, with Stroud Valleys retaining leaf green, Cheltenham District & Swindon & District adopting poppy red and City Of Gloucester that rather wonderful deep blue. The privatisation versions were merely these liveries with new logos, all swept away, of course, by Stagecoach!

Somewhere I have the Monopolies and Mergers Commission report into bus companies, with Bristol being one of the examples, with privatisation and break up the report was really out of date by the time it was printed

Interesting . Certainly a convoluted history . My memory of Bristol was a holiday in Weston-Supoer-Mare in 1970 and catching buses from town to Sandsend . I think they were Bristol MWs in Green and Green /Cream . Happy days

Love the HTV intro,It was little known that in NBC days there would of been a Bristol east and Bristol west but the idea of a pair of Bristol’s was shelved (sorry bad joke ) 😂the duel door VR in leaf green looked nice with its Filton destination maybe going to the home of Concorde All the best mate Mark 😊😊

Ive a question regarding NBC liveries. Was there any pattern to which of Poppy Red or Leaf Green that operators used or how was it decided?
