Gabriella ♡ you would be so perfect with twins Miller and Moss!!!! Perfect baby brand name 😍😂 loves your list so much and thanks for collaborating with me 💖💖💖
Just another Harry Potter trivia nugget: Hermione and Ron's son's name in the epilogue is Hugo. Thought you'd love that ❤ And I'm definitely interested in a girl's list!
There’s definitely a Harry Potter theme here- Amos, Cedric, Hugo (Ron and Hermione’s son), Ludo Bagman (former Beater for the Wimborne Wasps!), Percival (Dumbledore’s middle name, and the nickname Percy is also a Weasley brother), Victor (Krum!) 😂
Charlotte Hardman I was thinking the same thing! I was like ooo another HP ! Oooooooo another one! She also mentioned Quill when she was talking about Quincey lol I was like omg that would have been amazing if she had used Quill!
I also noticed that many of those names are associated with the Goblet of Fire! Ludo, Cedric, and Viktor all had big roles in that book and the Triwizard Tournament. Even Percy had a big role in that haha!
PLEASE do the girl version. Gabriella was really struggling with some of the letters to find names she liked, whereas I know that would never be a problem for you and I am so intrigued to hear your version of the girl list
Yess!! I would absolutely love a German baby name list. I really love the name Leonie and that's German but I need other unique German names to love too
I mean, it would imply being fearless/ballsy and going after what (s)he wants and sometimes picking fights but still 😂 and also Napoleon Dynamite’s uncle Kip 😝
I’m Dutch and I named my dog Kipp. He’s a big chicken (scaredy-cat) so it fits perfectly. I added the second p on purpose to differentiate between a name and the literal word for chicken. 😂
Now that I’m reading this I all of a sudden like Diggory as a first name. Digger as a nickname. And it’s like a nice nod to Harry Potter without being way to obvious
For “S” I adore the name Samson. I named my son Samson Wilder and we just love how well it fits him. It’s Hebrew and from the Bible. Wonderful story, unique name and I always recieve so many compliments on his name :)
Love love love Ludo - I’ve had all my babies now ( managed 5, husband refused to go any further!). But when I get my Siamese kitten, he will definitely be Ludo!
You should do welsh names next! Some of the traditional names are so beautiful, for example Cariad (meaning "love" in welsh) {pretty sure its unisex} Hedd (short for "heddwch" which means "peace") {boy} Gwenllian (she was a princess of Wales a couple hundreds of years ago) {girl} Dion (not sure what it means) {unisex} Llywelyn (old Prince of wales) Hywel (old Prince of wales) You may need to look up some videos to get the pronunciation right but I love these names becuase if the meanings and history :)
Kipp reminds me of Kip from Napoleon Dynamite so I’d pass heh and what happened to S? :p and my older daughter is Uschi (short for Ursula) and usha is not baby bear in French, that’s ourson (oor-sohn) which is from ours (oors) which is bear(: but great video as always! And I’ve always thought that blush was makeup but looking at your beautiful little darling, I guess it’s natural :p have a lovely day all of you!(:
Name List from Video (Loved this List!) Amos Barnaby Cedric Digby Evander Faisel Godfred Hugo Icarus Jacoby Kipp Ludo Moss Nate Oakley Percival Quincy Roscoe Tibalt Usha Victor Woodrow (Woody) Xavi Yves Zayn
The French Canadian version of Tibalt would be Thibault and pronounced "tee-bow". Personally, as someone who grew up in Montreal, I prefer French names like Thibault or Yves on French people. It makes sense to have them if you are actually Francophone.
hugo was ron and hermione’s son in the final harry potter, and there was also a character called ludo bagman! and i always loved those both, such great names, especially moss - how cool 😍 Also percival is a cool name but it was the name of my dentist so I couldn’t get past that, the dentist always scared me haha!
OMG - Icarus is my new name crush. I'm really surprised how much I love it. I've always loved Nate and Barnaby and Amos are both really growing on me. There were a few others in there that I really liked as well. But Icarus - if I dont choose it as a first name, it is definitely a strong contender for the middle spot, its just so gorgeous
Maybe because I've heard the name before but Icarus is no where near out there compared to some you've put on the list when you say that 🤣 there was a snowboarding, surfing, sports, and clothing boutique in our small town called Icarus. The name is actually quite lovely. And for a unique name it's easy to sound out and pronounce for teachers or people coming across your child's name for the first time.
Oh my goodness! There were so many names in this list that were also in Harry Potter! I'm also a bit of a potterhead. You pointed out Amos and Cedric, but the Harry Potter names that were also on this list were Percivial (Albus Percival Wolfrick Brian Dumbledore), Hugo (obviously Ron's and Hermione's son)I've said it before but Hugo is still my favourite boys name. Then there was the name Victor (Victor Krum). The names that I liked on this list were: Hugo (obviously), Usher/Asher, Woodrow, and Zayn. Thank you as always for all your hard work you put into these videos, Love from South Africa
Madeline Bruchez Yes, I was going to comment about that too. In America, we pronounce Jacoby “JA-cobee” As opposed to “JACK-o-bee”...not sure if that makes sense. There’s a pretty popular band here called Papa Roach and the lead singer is Jacoby. :)
Gosh I hope we have a girl. Boys names just don’t appeal to me at all, where as girls names are all beautiful. 🙈🙈 Percival was the closest to me liking a boys name. 😂
I've never named a child, and I never will. But I did name myself and my middle name is Irenaeus. I pronounce it wrong as air-en-eye-us, but whenever people find out my middle name, I have never had a person not immediately all in love the name. It's a masculine name that means peace, and is often used as a masculine version of Irene.
Please help me name my boy- due September 2019. I named my first one Atlas (it was from you too) it fits him perfectly and everyone loves it- now we feel like can’t top Atlas. Our family name is Kelly and we are a mixed family. I’m from Morocco and my husband is Norwegian and we live in London. Please help xxx
Cosmo? means order and beauty or universe, Farron? means adventurer, Morgan? means sea warrior, Lysander? means liberator/freedom, Tristan? means Knightly Jericho? means city of the moon
kamylia mizhar In mythology Perseus turned atlas into mountains maybe Percy or something that means sky or heaven that’s what atlas holds up .i don’t think I’m helping but congrats on the kid🎉🎉
I'm struggling with names so bad. My husband and I are having our third boy and our first 2 boys are Silas James and Lincoln Henry. We know we want Michael as a middle name but can not find a first name that we love. I think I want something with 2 syllables and I want something that isn't a classic name ( I consider their middle names to be more classic/timeless) but I also don't want something that people are going to question if it's made up. And I definitely don't want anything gender neutral or feminine sounding.
Chelsey DiFava congrats! And nice names. And those that have the same feel to me are Alfred, Ambrose, Arthur, Amos Bronson (Amos Bronson Alcott was Louisa May Alcott’s father and a an American teacher, writer, philosopher, and reformer. As an educator, Alcott pioneered new ways of interacting with young students, focusing on a conversational style, and avoided traditional punishment), Archibald (also like Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s newborn), Basil (English: BAH-zil, american: BAY-zil), Baxter, Bernard, Cassius, Cecil, Desmond/Desmund, Dorian, Edgar, Edmund/Edmond, Eli, Ellis, Elwin/Elvin, Emerson, Edward, Phineas or Fin(n)ley, Fletcher, Francis/Franklin, Frederick, George, Harold, Hubert, Jasper, Larkin, Lawrence, Leander/Lysander, Luther, Merritt, Oliver, Perry, Rupert, Sidney, Theodore, Victor, Walter (:
Oakleigh is actually a very popular girl name here in the states. That’s very popular here to write lee as Leigh for girl names. I know a few girls named wesleigh, oakleigh, kensleigh, etc
My brother is called Kit! I’ve always loved how modern, rare and how much history it has all at once! Another one is Finn but that might but be because that’s my puppy’s name!
I laughed out loud when you said "Oaks" as a nickname for Oakley, because in South Africa, an "oak" is slang for a sort of cool cat guy from Pretoria/Johannesburg. They're associated with a bit of a jock stereotype, and they're called oaks because they refer to their friends and mates as "oak" e.g. "Did you oaks check that fine binnet earlier?" (with binnet also being their slang for a pretty girl/woman). So, that's something I'd never be able to get past, being a South African :D
Hi SJ I love watching your videos, I absolutely love baby names as well. I didn't like any of these names, I love more traditional names but find it interesting to learn about new names 💖 Just wanted to say I really love your daughter's name.
My brother is 15 and named Amos, altho we pronounce it more like Amis here in the US. It's actually really popular among Amish and old church faiths since it's biblical.
