I have a love affair with anything Japanese, so I love these. Back in the day during WW II, Americans probably feared and hated this plane, but now after 75+years, I think we can all respect and appreciate it. It is a piece of history and I am sure it means much to the people of Japan that this plane is still around and is being well taken care of. I wonder what the Japanese thought of our P-51 Mustang?
the japanese captured a P-51C i think in early 1945 called "Evalina" one of the japanese test pilots to test fly the mustang said “I was astonished with its performance. Turn characteristics were splendid, almost the same as the Ki-84 in a horizontal turn. The radio transmitter was excellent, the armament and other miscellaneous equipment was very good, particularly when compared with their Japanese equivalents, and moreover it had a radio direction-finder." they where also suprised with its lack of Oil spilling on the ground since all japanese aircraft at that time where spilling oil like crazy
in my country, there is one Zero, at Dirgantara Mandala museum, or Indonesian air force heritage museum, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, just one as memorial war,
In my opinion this is the most beautiful aircraft ever built. It's a shame that these beautiful aircraft were used to carry out such a violent act of war.
2:00 I was playing a game called War Thunder and someone was flying a zero around. Just the sound of the engine, it’s hard to explain but it’s relaxing. Gaijin entertainment did a good job recreating the sound of the engine for their game
Read "Bombing of Chongqing" at Wikipedia for some amazing details of the A6M Zero's debut aerial-combat engagement with the Chinese Air Force on 13 September, 1940.
