Happy Birthday Aaliyah! 🎉 ... I guess I should add in belated now since this is going public the day after her b-day but the sentiment’s the same! Hope y’all enjoy and may she continue to celebrated for years to come! 💛🙏🏾
AUGUST 27 2023 ON THIS DAY IN MUSIC HISTORY AUGUST 27 1996 27 YEARS AGO Aaliyah RELEASED ONE IN A MILLION ALBUM THE FACT IT WAS 27 YEARS LATER AND STILL A CLASSIC ALBUM OF TIME 💿
Classic album. This album and the Ginuwine debut album totally revolutionized the game. I remember vividly how out of this world it all felt in real time. Yes - Tavarius was 14 when he recorded this. But Aaliyah was only 16 when she recorded so ... makes sense. And good on you for including the album version of The One I Gave My Heart To. It's WAY better than the single version. "I Care 4 U" is the song that would have given you what you needed in terms of vocals. But it missed the cut for the album and ended up on the Aaliyah album. It remains her finest work.
Favorite album of all time! Ironically it released on my birthday (08/27) but 2 years before I was born! It’s crazy that she was a junior in High School when she recorded this album! My top 5 songs on the album 1. One In A Million ( Favorite song of all time) 2. Never Givin’ Up 3. 4 Page Letter 4. Choosey Lover (Old School) 5. Came To Give Love (Outro) / If Your Girl Only Knew That outro is one of the most sentimental songs to me, her saying “came to spread my love to the fans across the world, reach... out to you, touch the hearts of boys & girls. Whenever I listen to that on her Bday, day of her passing or just days where she on my mind heavy I feel those lyrics a lot! And that’s a top 3 beat on this album, Timbaland’s production on that song is crazy! Also Tavarious Polk was only suppose to sing the demo for Never Givin’ Up but Aaliyah liked it so much that she just kept him on the actual song! He’s made music but he never became a star or anything like that but his voice is still amazing, he actually covered Aaliyah’s “I care 4 u” on his Instagram and it sounds great! This album is the reason I’m R&B Lover, R&B Historian & overall music lover in general so I appreciate you checking it out and thoroughly analyzing it! ✊🏾lastly the songs she recorded for this album but didn’t make the cut are “No Days Go any” which should’ve made it cuz it’s better than at least 5 of the songs! And “Death Of A Playa” which is song her brother Rashad features on & is rapping but it’s still an Aaliyah R&B record! I Care 4 U was suppose to be on this too but I’m sure you already know that it was done too late and ended up being on her self titled album!
I always said this album would be the perfect backdrop for a poetry joint it’s so moody. I love a girl like you(love the back and forth, plus I love her harmonies). And I agree, everything’s going to be alright is way to long lol.
It really would be! It’s got those vibes on so many songs. And ya know I think Darkchild is one of the greatest but that song for sure dragged at the end lmao! 😂
This was a GREAT reaction. Such a thorough review. My top 5 songs are: 1. If Your Girl Only Girl Knew 2. Hot Like Fire Remix 3.4 page Letter 4. Heartbroken 5. Never Giving Up Honorable mentions: I Got Your back Giving you More
I listened to Aaliyah's One in a million on repeat nicely done this album has majority of my favorite songs basically this album is the best produce done by Timbaland and Missy Elliott "Never giving up"a duet by Tavarius Polk is a perfect song. This is classic album ever made in history.
@Zachary, Treach voice is familiar cause he’s 90s royalty! He is half of hip hop group- Naughty By Nature..... check them out! Also Aaliyah and Ginuwine single handily put Missy and Timbaland in the stratosphere musically! Thanks for the full review
The hot like fire video is the remix they both where singles she did like she did the at your best you are love where the original didn't have a video but the remix did
