In honor of Romeo Must Die turning 20 years old here is behind the scenes of the video. I don’t own any of these clip. Follow me on Instagram & Twitter @Aaliyahdamitajo
If she was alive they would've forced her to push that backwards mentality music on everyone. I'm not with the music industry forcing us to listen to the same lyrics on different genre's. RIP Aaliyah.
growing up Asian-American I also grew up listening to R&B and Rap, i was really into black culture cause we asians didn't really have an identity growing up, we didn't make it big in the music/movie business, and i also happened to grew up watching old school martial arts movies starring Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee and when they decided to make Romeo Must Die, i was very excited that R&B music star Aaliyah and legend martial arts movie star Jet li end up in a movie together, love the fusion of hip-hop and kung fu
Fun Fact: Aaliyah was originally supposed to star in Cradle 2 The Grave, she had Gabrielle Union’s character. It would’ve been dope to see them in another film together.
I remember vividly going to the cinema to watch this movie. I can't believe that was 20 years ago. I was 17 back then, and wanted to see the movie because I had liked older Jet Li movies, but it was Aaliyah, who made me loooove the film - I mean, obviously I saw "Trish" on the screen, but I was so taken with Aaliyah's performance, I wanted to know more about her, and like the next day I ordered the movie Soundtrack with her music, and loved it, still do, even though I had never before listened to RnB or HipHop. I then saw her as Akasha - and we all know the movie sucked, but her performance was stunning - and idk....I was absolutely shocked when I heard about her death. I remember cutting a picture of her from a magazine and putting it in a small frame. Even now, years later, I still think of her every now and then, and I just spent some time watching interviews with her, and my appreciation for her grew even more. She was smart, talented and funny. There is, apart from her great beauty, a timeless grace about her that really sets her apart.
This movie will always be a part of me, I really love this movie so much, my favorite of all time, I also loved the song “try again” too, I also miss Aaliyah so much.
Great video! Aaliyah and Jet Li are LEGENDS period!!! This movie is one of my favorite films. It's a CLASSIC and they brought the nostalgia and art into Kung Fu!!! Rest in peace Babygirl! Shout out to Jet Li! I enjoyed this video. You have a new subscriber! Keep up the great work!
It's 2023 right now and Jet Li was still THAT DARN AWESOME AND MY FAVOURITE EVER, Aaliyah counted the most and i still miss her since 2016 and DMX in over 2 years.
One of the very few Hollywood action movies where the hero doesn't get to at least kiss the leading lady... I guess they cut the scene out after bad reaction to it during test screenings
