I A M J O KING Selena Quintanilla Perez was a Mexican American Singer. Known as the Queen Of Tejano, she broke records that changed Mexican music forever. Selena was born April 16, 1971. As a little girl, she would sing a lot of English songs. There is a clip somewhere on RU-vid you can watch. Its Selena at the age of nine singing in front of a band. When they noticed Selena's talent, They made a group called Selena Y Los Dinos. In 1987, Selena won the best Mexican American vocalist. She would win that award for the rest of her life. Selena Y Los Dinos wrote a song called 'Como La Flor' that song hit the charts in November of 1992. Soon, she would sing that song at EVERY concert she was at. Selena wrote an album called 'Amor Prohibido' which sold over two million copies. Soon, Selena would write thousands of hits like Amor Prohibido, No Me Queda Mas, Bidi Bidi Bom Bom, and so much more. Selena talked about writing a English album, and she start working on it around November 1994. March 9th, 1995, Selena noticed that her biggest fan, Yolanda Saldivar, was stealing money from her. Selena didn't believe what had happened. March 31st, 1995, at 10-11 A.M, Selena walked to a hotel with Yolanda bitch hoes. Selena and Yolanda argued for papers that had all of Selena's money. Yolanda bitch hoes gave Selena the suitcase. As Selena was looking through the suitcase, Yolanda pulled a gun out, Selena saw the gun, and ran out the door as fast as possible. Yolanda shot Selena in the back. Selena ran screaming 'Help Me, I've Been Shot!' Selena made it to the lobby of the hotel, screaming at the client's to "close the door, or she would shoot her again. " The client's immediately called 911. She was sent to the hospital. They worked on Selena for an hour, noticing that as soon as she made it to the hospital, that she was already gone. Selena was pronounced dead 1:05 P.M. Selena was only 23 years old. After her death, Selena's English album, Dreaming Of You, sold over 7 million copies, making it the best selling cross over language album of all time.
Tyrell Jenkins just because people don't like the music you listen to doesn't give you the reason to bash another artist. It's contradicting and very hypocritical.
The comparisons are not just between them. It has to do with how simple and beautiful the 90s and early 2000s were. Plastic surgery was taboo, lip syncing was banned and could get you into a lot of crap and so much more. People are reaching back into the past to when music started to loss its self. I have long said the 90s and possibly the early 2000s is when music died. Now anyone can be a singer without being able to hit notes, write there own music, using computer generated programs to alter the voice and more. Back in the day celebrities or singers actually sat down to read fan mail they would reply and send autographed pictures as well. They held meet and greets to meet fans without charging money. Had concerts that were affordable for there fans. We have reached a peak within the industry were celebrities make more money and have more fans without needing the respect of there fans. Just my personal thought.
I can only imagine him late night in the studios spending perfecting the beats for Aaliyah. Same with Missy but all the beats for Aaliyah are next level to THIS day!
I was a teenager when her videos started airing on Mtv, she was the first mainstream black R&B artist I'd ever seen who embraced a sort of punk rock/skater look, she blew my mind. I adored her.
Uli Rohana Margaretha you know she was really fascinated with Egypt. She said she felt a connection to Egypt and felt that she was an Egyptian in her past life..
Iconic!! Aaliyah makeup , hair, fashion, and dancing. She had her own style. This generation would be hating on her severely. I can see it now. 😞. She was definitely in a league of her own.
OMG, I miss Aaliyah sooo much. R&B haven't been the same since BabyGirl died. And these other artists can sing like her, dance, or have natural beauty the way she displayed. R.I.P Aaliyah Diana Houghton.
Kristy Mendoza that’s an insult tbh. Her style is more urban/R&B. Aaliyah was an R&B singer who was becoming a big pop star before she passed. Aaliyah physically looked like a model & was very beautiful/photogenic with rare features. Zendaya would be a better comparison.
Aaliyah had the “IT FACTOR” that cant be compared to any female artist that’s in the game she was kool, sexy, mysterious, chill, and her beauty commands every eye to be on her whenever she was around she was truly a angel R.I.P WE STILL MISS YOU!
The ONLY female r&b artist to get martial arts lessons and a guest feature from jet Lee all in one video she always will always be legendary r.i.p. Aaliyah
I don't remotely like, love, or listen to R&B...but I love her, especially this particular song. It was my first of hers I ever listened to and I still listen to it repeatedly. They don't make them like her anymore...
Aaliyah was so beautiful, so talented, dancing and singing! It's still sad to this day in 2017 that she couldn't get to reach her full success!😔 She's the real ♕ Ris 😇
I CANNOT EVEN IMAGINE R&B WITHOUT AALIYAH. Her beats (mostly off Timbaland), her charisma, dance moves, lyricism (is that even a damn word?? Idc.), voice, face.... Ughhhhhhh
I'll never get tired of saying we were robbed. I don't care. When I'm 90, I'll tell my grandkids that we were robbed. Sweet Angel Aaliyah, I wish we had seen what amazing things you would've created.
I miss you Aaliyah I was 2 years old when she died, it’s terrible man. She could be here today, that her parents and brother be proud of her, I would meet her when I was little it now if she was here today. I really love her talent and kind hearted.
This is my favorite ! I would skate or just get pumped up . R.i.p thank you for all your beautiful talent . Love this movie .your beautiful spirt still lives on. 🤘🤘🤘💗❤💝💖
If she were still here there wuld be no Beyonce. Just Destiny's Child still. No lemonade.....jus lemons ! Beyonce wanted to be Aaliyah sooo bad but even tho "Babygirl" gone way too soon, in my opinion, Beyonce or any female since has neither the class and talent that Aaliyah had. She still MY definition of MY PERFECT WOMAN....
Y'all so stupid for this .. aaliyah is dead.. n stop complaining comparing.. y y'all hate beyonce tho .. face the fact now beyonce more bigger then anyone else period
Aaliyah I love you & you are deeply missed & will forever be in my heart... You are, is, was an angle to me. There's none like you & you will always be very special to me.. I love you & I know your in a much better place... gods blessings
