LYRICS: I was Twittering and waiting before I crashed into the corner shop I was trying to dry my hair I was fiddling with my chair We were trying to read a map and didn't stop Well, my pants got soaked My waters broke! I just didn't see the lorry... What about me? I never claim! But they get the same as I did! What about me?!
Yes, it's the same street, although the VB ads also included the block on the other side of Sturt Street (the city's main thoroughfare). The AAMI ad was filmed on Ballarat Cup Day and rumour was it was a TAC ad being made. I wondered if it was so they could use some wasted yokels as extras lying "dead" on the ground. :)
Love the new AAMI ad. Shot on Little River Rd in Victoria. Filmed like the scene where the Toecutter Gang chase the Chevy down. And filmed in same location.
@IanGorton Yup - the VB ads were also shot in Lydiard Street, Ballarat, although mostly in the next block up. The latest Ford Territory ad (the stupid one where the female engineer drives to meet all of her Facebook friends on a single tank of fuel), ends with the car driving along Sturt Street, Ballarat.
OMG! I knew I recognised the location from my road trip... I stayed in the grey building on the left of the guy... The Ansonia on Lydiard. The street's not normally that cluttered or busy. Nicely staged AAMI!
@Yillup Fair enough, I see what you're saying. Though I don't think it was really their intention. I just think there all stupid and it's a stupid ad!! What bugs me the most is their singing is out of time with the music in parts! You would think they could have had the song playing on set whilst filming...
i like when its like we were trying to read a map and didnt stop then he is like well my pants got soaked, lol those are my favourite parts, then my last one when the guy is like i was fiddeling with my chair lol its so funny
My University campus (TAFE) is on the next block. I passed by on the bus while they were shooting but I didn't find out that it was an ad until a day later!
On the comment about low premium, when i recently did my car insurance, AAMI was the cheapest out of a number of insurance companies, and the highest quote was NRMA with the quote being more than $1000 then i paid for AAMI... And i know several other people who have switched to AAMI for the same reason... SO i am not complaining, at least the ad is funny and makes you actually wanna watch it... My view would be different if AAMI was the most expensive insurer, but they aren't!!!!
@sliat1981 My nine year old daughter sings this tune, thinking it to be the original. Between these ads and Shannon Noll's version, the original by Moving Pictures has been bastardised. And yes you are right about the lorries!
The fact that an insurance company is able to produce a fairly high budget (for an Aussie ad anyway) 45 second ad, in the current economic climate just goes to show you they make way too much. I'd rather sign up with an insurance company that doesn't splurge on silly ads, but can offer me a lower premium.
I was involved in an accident that wasn't my fault as admitted by the P plate driver that caused it. Fuck me, what a nightmare dealing wit AAMI. There advertising is so perverse, absolute bullshit. They should be banned from advertising as it is the most untruthful claim to good service ever. More than 5 hours later I got home and now have to hope it all goes smoothly. My story is quite lengthy given their shit service and I can't go through it all here but suffice to say they are horrible.
Hi guys, Like this ad? AAMI are offering one lucky budding singer/actor/entertainer the chance to appear in the next AAMI Ad! All you need to do is film your own version of this ad, upload it to aamiauditions. com. au and you could win a weekly cash prize of $2000 or the chance to appear in the next AAMI ad. Check it!
@Yillup I dunno about that really. Twittering while driving, and then driving straight into a corner stop is pretty stupid. And I would class reading a map and fidling with a chair in the same catagory. And not seeing a Lorry, you'd have to be stupid not to see a car. I think the ad's really annoying myself, but just sayin, I don't think it's really sexist...
her name is Nikki Osbourne, theres not much on her though on the internets, but yeah shes a babe. Used to watch her every night on a late night aussie gameshow
the end is funny too when the car crashed into the upside down car!!! ha ha ha i don't like this add but it sure is the funniest add i have ever seen!!
