So basically the Costume is for Odissi which comes from the state of Odisha because the story is based in the neighbouring state named bengal. The dance steps were bharatnatyam. The ghungroos are worn in all of indian classical dance forms

I absolutely love you girl. the fact that you know and appreciate the classical dance and even know the names. yeeeeeaaaah girl. it's a mix of brathanatyam and kathak because the north are predominantly familiar with katahak and he is the coreographer and classical brathanatyam dancer. so the fusion would reach the audience better. it's still 80% brathanatyam I'd say and the music and gestures in places are kathak orientated.

Vidya's character wasn't possessed. She had a personality disorder and when she heard the story of the dancer, she felt sorry for her. and She became her and acted on revenge.

The song and dancing in the original Malayalam version was way better,The Male dancer is Vineeth,he is a Malayalam actor, he is trained in classical dancing and he was dancer in the original version too which I think was released in 1993 and the Hindi remake was released in 2008!

Vidya's not a trained dancer in the classics. Madhuri is a trained Kathak dancer Aishwarya is trained in bharathanatyam, although she didn't complete her training. Vineeth, the man in this song, is a trained bharathanatyam dancer. Hema Malini is trained in bharathanatyam; her daughters Esha Deol and Ahana Deol are trained in Odissi. Asin is trained in bharathanatyam Prabhu Deva is trained in bharathanatyam, not sure if he completed it because I can't see the foot work, i'm not sure wtf bollywood did. because Vidya's head dress is the head dress that Odissi female dancers wear.... but from what i can see from the waist up, it's very close to bharathanatyam; and because this is also a film, it's semi-classical. (i'm trained in bharathanatyam)

Kathak is more of foot work.. the body is neutral and straight.. like mar dala in devdas..the mudras ( hand postures) may mostly similar.. the male actor is vineeth.. this movie was released in 3 languages prior to its remake in Hindi.. Malayalam ,tamil all the versions has the dancer of this song as vineeth.. the songs if want to look were "ra ra" from chamdramukhi & "oru murai vandha" from manichitrataal.. and awesome classical bharatnatyam video songs

She is in a deep depression and she thinks that she is a woman named manjulica who is a dancer who loses her lover during a dance in front of the king of their kingdom before he slice up his neck as in the clip . Her name in the movie manju and the actor who plays the king is acually her lover in the now life but she fails to reconice him as she is depress , he is longly related to the king long ago and she is mentally sick . The who dances with her is her lover long ago . He is manjulica lover but manju doesn't know about her split character disorder . The man who dances with her lived in the house where manjulica lover lived. Thus she thinks that she is her lover thus she doesn't hurt him .she is not posses and the guy with glasses is the phyxologic that manju now lover calls for help. Manju now lover is also very rich which make her side of manjulica think that he is the king who kills the dancer aka manjulica lover .
