AANAC: The MDS Assessment Process
The Resident Assessment Instrument or “RAI” process requires the completion of the MDS or Minimum Data Set assessments. The process of investigation is thorough and mirrors the nursing process. The MDS process starts with gathering information, which leads to decision making using Care Area Assessments. The RAI process includes 20 identified care areas that are common among long-term care residents. In this video, AANAC’s curriculum development specialist Jessie McGill, RN, RAC-MT, walks you through the assessment process.
