I stand by this, I still think aang taking ozai bending is a fate worse than death, ozai is egotistical and believed he was unstoppable and aang took the only thing that made him feel powerful. Now he gotta live the rest of his life in prison powerless and can’t do anything.

It don't even matter if he knows it or not, it THE AVATAR!! infact his F*cking Ancestor knows about the Avatar State, Everyone that Met Aang knows about the Avatar State, Azula knows about it and stop it, He has way too many resources of gathering Intels to not know about the Avatar State.
