Aaron Emerson performing at the Official Keith Emerson Tribute Concert at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on 28th May 2016, with words from Mari Kawaguchi, and introduction by Jo Emerson and Mandy Beadnell.
Keith Emerson was the BEST yet underappreciated keyboard player ever. The music he made with ELP and as a solo artist is sublime. I wonder how much longer will I have to wait for ELP to be in the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame!
Under appreciation..? You've got to be kidding... ? As far as rock keyboardists go, he is pretty famous. Nominated year after year as best.. ( meaningless) in many magazines. Shows like 60 minutes had them.. is how in the culture he and they were. You sound like a fan.... boy
Beautiful Aaron. Keith is one of the best keyboardist of all time, never will his music ever leave my world, it has been a lifting experience since the first I heard ELP. RIP my friend.
Keith showed me how I could express the pain of my childhood through music, for which I am eternally grateful. This composition is so beautiful, so expressive, so well played. Thank you, Aaron.
I was lucky enough to see ELP as my very first concert for the Brain Salad Surgery tour back in 1974. To this day, it was one of the best concerts I ever been at. It is now over a hundred concerts later, and I can still say that. R.I.P. Greg and Keith, You both are missed, but your music will live on in our hearts.

Having been there on that memorable evening I can say what I observed and heard, AXS TV had several Pro cameras that night and I asked one of the cameramen if it was going to be broadcast on cable tv and he simply said "we are filiming it for posterity only" but that seemed like a generic answer. There is no reason to go through that high expense only "for posterity" and I hope it becomes in "reality" a DVD, that will be decided in the coming months. EMO and his fans world wide deserve to share this beautiful and emotional tribute in a global scale. We will always love you Keith Noel.
Keith will be missed by his followers. Your music will be in my heart forever. Still, you turn me on. This band was so progressive it amazed those that were around to hear it, and I'm one of them. RIP, Keith, and God bless you for what you shared with us, your fans.
Thank you Aaron for this video and the other video with the pictures of you and your father and your family. Your dad's music means so much to me and others. His music will live on in our hearts forever.
I saw ELP in Wichita Kansas in 1975... It was my second 'rock' concert.... It blew my mind. I was only 18 at the time and couldnt believe my eyes and ears... Now its hard to believe he and Greg are gone... RIP...
Im sitting here touched by you Mari and Aarons pain of loss. I am so honored to have had what little time and laughs with you and Keith that I did. I can't help (im sure you do too) but, wish there were going to be more in this lifetime though. He was a gentle kind soul.
Aaron has the touch. Where does it all come from? Keith’s music drew on the past. That well of composers and performers that affect and influence us all. Consciously or not. He then made it his own.
Aaron, did you get to attend the tribute concert on July 28, 2017, at the Birmingham Symphony Hall in the UK? It appears to have been a very moving concert. I saw the performances of Rick Wakeman and Rachel Flowers and could not hold back the tears. I started listening to ELP as a teenager in the 1960's, and they quickly became my favorite band and have remained so throughout my lifetime. I am so sorry for your loss.
It's not that Emerson was just a great keyboardist. He was a GREAT composer and transcriber. Fans unfamiliar with classical music have no idea how much composers like Bach, Prokofiev. Janacek, Tchaikovsky, Barber, Bartok, Moussorgsky, etc. influenced Emerson. Take a piece like "Knife Edge" for example. It's based on a classical organ piece by Janacek written in the 1920s, with the bridge section from Bach's French Suite#1; Nutrocker, which is actually derived from Tchaikovsky's March of the Tin Soldiers; or Jerusalem, written on Hubert Perry in 1916. Plus, endless numbers of Bach musical quotes throughout Emerson's music. Until I heard ELP, I had no idea how awesome classical music was. Now, Bach is like a musical God to me.
I cant figure out whos who with the ladies. Boy do I love ELP. Some of the best artists period. I think Keith is prolly the most talented, gifted, creative ect. keyboard player I've ever heard. Same with the other 2 lads. Did Keith have a disease or symptom that inhibited his playing?
I have a question for Mr. Aaron Emerson or anyone who might be able to answer a question that many Emerson, Lake, and Palmer fans have. Back in the late 90s when ELP was touring they played a piece entitled "Crossing The Rubicon" . It is rumored that the entire piece was approximately 25 minutes long. My question is does such a piece exist and if so where can we find it ? Every ELP fan in the world would love to hear it if it exists. Thank you for your time.
