I would play again if 6v6 came back with a serious attempt at making it balanced. Not just "we decreased tank jp 30%"

6v6 would take a ton of work to rebalance and basically wasted the last 2 years of progress but as a tank main I can tell you that no amount of HP or Armor buffs help alleviate the constant counter picking and CC, in many ways it actually makes it worse since you stay alive longer through the CC chain lock. Non tank players have no idea how miserable it is to get a constant barrage of sleep, anti, flashbang, hook, pigpen, hack, freeze, shield bash, javelin... Then by the time you get over the effect of one you get a tank buster DPS farming ur HP all while ur own team is spamming "tank diff" and reporting you for throwing because they aren't able to do anything while ur being gang banged.

They should bring it back even tho they have to change/revert a lot. It would be worth it. Many people would return, it is a better fundation to build a healthy game and its more fun for every role. The problems with 6v6 are way easier to fix than 5v5. 6v6 issues are caused by bad balance/hero design (specific heros cause issues). 5v5 issues cannot be solved by a balance because it is a format issue.

i just absolutely love how all the 5v5ers always went "its not happening, if you bother the devs eventually they will just say it isnt happening" or "the devs wont admit their mistakes and considering 6v6 would be the same as them doing that". in reality the devs are active in the conversation and arent completely opposed to it.

Okay why dont they just make a designated 5v5 ranked section / quick play section and a seperate one for 6v6

They could bring 6v6 back with the ideas that already are out there with the tanks abilities to buff the team to only affect themselves or a smaller diminished value to avoid a weird role q goats meta and just reduce the health values down to the open queue tank values and it would just make so many people happy. And for the 5v5 enjoyers just keep their format the main format. If it splits the queue times or if one takes longer than the other, it’ll just prove a point. If the player base that has left the game comes back? Proves a different point.

Theres no universe in which Blizzard drops 5v5, these modes just need to co-exist at this point as much as Id rather fire 5v5 into the sun. Remove 5v5 open queue and replace it with 6v6 open queue. Give that separate mode a reason to exist, aka 6v6, no role passives (except for maybe the tank CC duration one), old HP and hitbox values. Giving back the Classic Overwatch experience to everyone who lost it when Blizzard nagasaki'd it out of existence.

6v6 needs to come back. Overwatch at its core needs another tank to help mitigate the amount of stuns and burst dmg.

This is actually a horrendous idea to implement anytime soon. It's something they'd have to do after the player population improves. Even back during the latter half of OW1, the queue times were rough; even then no one wanted to play tank. Most likely all this will do is initially bring back a large wave of players, but will dwindle down below current population after a month or so. At that point, the queue times at the higher ranks would be so abysmally low that it'd either significantly increase the amount of smurfs, or would force the matchmaking to expand the search to include ranks that are completely different in skill. What they really need to do is make tank a fun and enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, their current idea of how to do this is watering down characters until they are braindead easy for casual players, and no longer have any skill expression for dedicated players.

I think bringing back 6vs6 would mean reverting many changes made to many heroes which would be a lot of work but I don't think 6vs6 will be ruled out forever, blizz has proven to do anything to keep the game "alive"

they are probably just going to bring up talking points we already know...its not that we don't know WHY its 5v5 and not 6v6, the debate is if 5v5 fixed more issues then its currently causing, and this is likely just them going to explain THAT, and not a serious discussion on 6v6. its nice to be aknowledged but i think saying "they are considering it" is copium. that being said, this is WAY better then the previous radio silence or people close to blizz saying "no discussion" is definitely a nice change of pace.

I hate to admit it but OW just doesn’t work as a 5v5 game. It’s too hard to balance tanks and when u mess up on tank everyone sees it. I know this means long tank queues for tanks in high rank games, but for most people it’s a better experience.

the team that made it 6v6 isn't there anymore. hell, the team that made it 5v5 is barely there anymore. I'm thinking they're admitting they're falling behind but they're gonna make 5v5 the best they can cause I doubt they'd go backwards even if 6v6 felt better to a lot of people. It would be way more work to incorporate tuning for the existing cast of heroes as well as any new heroes on the way, on top of reshuffling the format with a new dev team that wasn't there to remember what 6v6 consisted of in the 1st place.

First of all, Keller’s post isn’t the thing that spurred a lot of talk about 6v6. To me, that’s kind of tone deaf to the situation. Second, we’ll have to wait and see what their “pov” is. It could be: “sucks to suck but we’re sticking to 5v5!”.

Considering everything that was supposed to justify overwatch 2 even existing has either failed or been scrapped, at this point 6v6 is the only logical step to take the game. The story pve stuff was a lie, 5v5 sucks balls, the reworks that came about thanks to 5v5 have also been terrible in terms of design, and they have slowly been reverting the cc changes. 6v6 is inevitable. And since that's the case, just give me back dps doomfist and I might just find some enjoyment in the dumpster fire that is overwatch.
