I love how someone just blurts out “Nutshell!” Aaron is like “Really?” Then immediately rolls into one of the must heart wrenching, tear jerking performances of this song ever. Unbelievable.
@@reedspacer558 my apologies, listening to hammer drills, ram sets, and hvac mechanics smashing tin for 20 years makes deciphering muffeled audio virtually impossible, I only heard it once.
Staind played a private show for my unit that returned from afghanistan. This guy was nothing but class. They played all their hits and at the end he was doing this kind of banter with us and was taking requests from the crowd. Aaron is all class.
My favorite cover of Nutshell. Aaron owned this, because he FELT it. That's what makes a good cover. I keep watching this, 10 years later, because it's so good. And, BTW, he did an awesome job with "still loving you". Klaus isn't easy to do by any means.
Grunge was a short period in time, no music will ever touch the emotions chris Cornell, Layne Staley, Eddie Vedder, kurt Cobain, Shannon Hoon , Scott Weiland (ect.) Were able to put behind their music , aaron Lewis great job
nutshell starts......silence ensues.....amazing, this song to this day remains my favorite of all time, the insurpassable amount of emotion that it has, its just ridiculous, forever the greatest grunge vocalist and grunge song in history and the future, no discussion
@@ajax3748 Sorry but I felt that one was a bit too much worked upon, bit too much Hollywood with the slomo's and a bit too much countryish. Maybe you like Dalton Dummer's version? Also John and Bas, two dutchmen make really cool covers of Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, Shinedown etc.
Just the first guitar chord immediately puts you in the feeling. Man, the funny guy died the moment he asked: "Really???". The vibe changed in a click. That's the power of this masterpiece. Just incredible performance by this incredible artist.
Man, I get goosebumps every time he sings that fist word of Nutshell, “Weeeeeeee, chase misprinted lies.” The power, emotion and authenticity behind it is undeniable.
Anyone else notice with all the dumb requests being shouted out, once someone yells "nutshell!!!!" his face changes immediately and he busts into the song. Really something to see, I know he absolutely loves this song and he kills it every time
Im by no means famous buy i play the guitar myself and I've been in that situation where everyone is shouting songs but when someone says Nutshell it drops your heart into your stomach everytime!
Aaron seems to, judging from hes face - that idiot girl screaming don´t even know who it is and that they were friends, just makes you sad! Great cover though!
The drug addict who couldn't cope with life? He didn't even write 99% of AIC songs--let's cherish Jerry Cantrell, for without him NONE of AIC songs would have ever been written muchless sang by some pussy drug addict.
My uncle overdosed about over a year ago, he was a nutjob, can be very annoying because he wouldn't stop talking, but was my favorite person on earth. I brought this song up when we were talking about our favorite songs and he said its also his favorite and he remembered walking around San Jose with no where to go and no where to stay, singing this song in his head. I never knew how powerful it always was, until i listen to it to this day, i break down and cry. Rest In Peace Uncle Sean I Love You and i know you're listening along
This has always been my favorite song. My husband (boyfriend at the time) learned how to play it on guitar for me among many others. He was so talented. I loved listening to him play the guitar and piano. I still have 4 notebooks full of music he wrote. This song always comes on the radio when I am having a bad day and I know it’s him.
So amazing. Hey guys just chilling with my guitar. “Play Nutshell!”. -Proceeds to invite Layne Staley in his soul so we can listen to him one more time. This performance was really a gift!
Didnt they know each other too? Another time he did this song, i thought i remembered him saying he knew him. Not sure. Cant remember. Its another live cover of nutshell by Staind
noahkb80 he has a song dedicated to layne called Layne. Pretty sure they knew each other or Aaron thought very highly of him if they didn’t know each other
Aaron Lewis is hands down my favorite vocalist behind Layne. So much emotion and range. To this day I can't watch this without tearing up and the hairs standing up at the level of respect he puts into this song. As was mentioned earlier, you can see the change on his face and demeanor when he starts playing it. Absolutely beautiful and inspiring job..
This video is literally me playing guitar stoned alone lol. Starts messing around for 15 min straight, then right into something super emotional and deep. I LOVE IT!!!
Two years ago in December I lost my wife to an overdose after 7 years of heroin addiction. It took us to the edge and beyond. Threw-ought our years of addiction we faced homelessness at times. We had a tent and campsite set up with grill and shower. At night we would lay in our tent and I would play this song and sing to her. No one could understand how powerful this song was to us, and now even more so to me. We played it at her funeral.
This song was new during the worst years of my addiction.. I won’t say it made me feel not alone in it.. it made me know someone more artistic than me was just as alone
Man I’m 43 now, I’m feeling like we’re gonna be stuck listening to the great music we were blessed to grow up with through our stereos and phones from now on… I hope there will be future bands to carry these great genres for the next 20-30yrs.. rock n metal can’t get lost to time… the 80s,90s, & early 00s were really somethin special.
No doubt brother! Was a teenager in the 80’s and just cannot really get into current music. All my playlists for the gym or car are all 70’s, 80’s, 90’s hard rock and metal with some early 00’s mixed in. So many talented bands back in the day.
ive seen Aaron live 4 times, he is a human jukebox and he nails it 95% of the time and Nutshell proves he is one of a kind to just go from Bieber and K Perry to Alice n chains in 10 seconds! he went from prince to Sade back to Pink Floyd, AMAZING TALENT
Damn. Just damn. Is Aaron really THIS good? He's the only vocalist I've ever seen that could even come close to duplicating Layne's vocals. F'n homerun.
@@penoyer79 And who tried to publicly humiliate Layne Staley at one of their concerts, crowd wouldn't stand for it though 👍 Sure he must have hated having them at the Unplugged recording.
This magical moment, when he went from funny free-floating between songs, and ended with a completely serious cover of Nutshell... now this is what I call respect towards an artist.
Respect is a bygone quality sought after by no one clad in it's unrecognizable form to the people of today. Misunderstood is the man of respect, and admiration.
bruh if you haven't heard this by up church you haven't heard the best version trust me check it out if you haven't already bro just came out a couple days ago. "Ryan Upchurch"
I grew up listening to Aaron Lewis and staind. I always feel like he’s one of my dad’s friends. Definitely would feel like ive known him my whole life if I ever do meet him.
There needs to be an award and a new hall of Fame because the one that exists has way to many that don't deserve the honor. But I agree with you on Aaron Lewis.
Aaron Lewis ladies and Gents. One of the most powerful voices in Numetal/Grunge Music. He did a hell of a job with Laynes vocal range if you ask me 👌 🔥
I absolitely love aarons take on this song. Goosebumps everytime Makes me think of ya dad, hearing him blare this shit in the garage, hearing it when building model cars with him. This shit hits home man, amazing performance
I can see Aaron singing sober for sure.....but other songs, not so much. Imagine Aaron signing Lateralus , Parabol and Parabola, ticks and leeches, the grudge....I could go on forever. It doesn't fit. Don't get me wrong. Aaron's voice is insanely beautiful it's just not Maynard!
Man.. I came across this last night here at the office... broke my heart on that first chord, literally teared up, and I never do that (RIP Layne, forever in our hearts). I didn;t even know the importance of AIC to Aaron until looking into it last night. Someone said it perfect how he goes from joking to utmost respectful seriousness in this song, like he "Had" to get this song out. I feel ashamed that I grew up in this era, listened to all the bands, but didn't really "listen" to them, didn't really dive into what they were saying. I've come in and out of music too much. I loved/Love these songs, it really eats me up to know what I missed out on. But their music has always stayed with me at 35yrs old. That sound, musicianship, brotherhood, is what stayed with me. God do I miss that sound, Layne's, Eddie's, Chris's voices...damn at least I was lucky to hear it back then, it was a special moment in time, all these guys are special. Much respect Aaron
You cannot "see" with eyes you do not have, and you cannot know what you have not yet learned. You grew older, gained some knowledge and experience, and gained a different view/appreciation for what you were hearing. You enjoyed the music one way as a youth, and you see it differently now as you are older. That is the essence of life. No shame in that at all!
