Our first lesson with a new show jump trainer Aaron Nobbs! He had soon exposed our weaknesses and had us working hard (physically in the heat as well as mentally) to correct them. I had not noticed before my habit of letting my hands bunch together on top of Pigeon's neck and widening them certainly helped to channel and focus PIge on the fence more. He also suggested that I should halt during training if Pigeon hits a pole to give her a chance to reflect on the fact before continuing. Hard to believe this was only a 30 minute session (we did a lot in that time - excellent value for money). I was really pleased with how Pigeon jumped, particularly early on through the main grid - she was making a really athletic shape over those fences! Lots to work on until the next session.
