My #1 priority question is: what would be the best supplemental health insurance that you would recommend? Maybe include just one great alternative to AARP's supplemental health insurance. That would have been a GREAT help!🙏🙏🙏
@Over50tv
@Over50tv 8 месяцев назад
I did a quick lookup and here are a few alternatives to consider: Private Health Insurance Providers: Many private insurance companies offer supplemental health insurance plans. Examples include Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and others. You can explore their offerings and compare plans based on your specific needs and preferences. Medigap Plans: Medigap, or Medicare Supplement Insurance, is designed to work alongside Original Medicare. These plans are offered by private insurance companies and help cover certain costs that Medicare doesn't, such as copayments, deductibles, and coinsurance. Different insurance providers may offer various Medigap plans, so it's worth comparing options. Medicare Advantage Plans: Instead of opting for a supplemental plan, some individuals choose Medicare Advantage plans, also known as Part C. These plans are offered by private insurance companies and provide coverage beyond what Original Medicare offers, often including vision, dental, and prescription drug coverage. Health Savings Accounts (HSAs): HSAs are not supplemental insurance, but they can be used to cover medical expenses not covered by your primary insurance. They are paired with high-deductible health plans and allow you to save money tax-free for qualified medical expenses. State-Specific Programs: Depending on your location, there may be state-sponsored programs or initiatives that offer supplemental health coverage for retirees or older individuals. Check with your state's department of insurance or health services for information on available programs.

AARP is a great organization. Great travel discounts, great literature and info for members, movie tickets, they are a business like any other business in the USA (profit or non). How does this guy think they are able to lobby in Washington and get great discounts for their members? Through membership. What does he expect from AARP? Free depends and meal deliveries? For $12 yearly for 2 household members, they do their job

The most important thing AARP does is represent the interest of people over 55. Healthcare and protecting Social Security are major priorities, the main priorities of people in my age group. I’m in Gen X, and I’ve got a feeling we are going to be very under represented going forward. We are a very small sliceof a demographic. I appreciate what AARP does. All that other stuff you were talking about means very little to me.

Millions of Americans could no longer afford their insurance premiums due to Obamacare. AARP supports Obamacare, which was nothing more than a redistribution scheme that both helped and hurt people financially. Those hurt (millions) aren't just millionaires either.

I totally agree with you and I have one question. Do you still think they are there for folks over 50 if they offer membership to anyone over 18? When I was younger they only offered membership to 50 and over.

A simple rule to use 99% of the time. If you have to chase it, it may be getting a good thing. But if it comes to your door without your request, it might cost something. When you get either the government or other organizations pushing a benefit, they are certainly the biggest beneficiaries.

Car insurance using AARP is with a third party The Hartford and they are the best price, specially I am adding my teenager son into my car insurance. To rent a car and the Rental car insurance was great, only 100 dls extra in case you have an accident BUT if you have an incident you need to call AARP and not the rental co. For hotels also, you get good prices and nice hotels BUT if you need to change reservations or cancellations you might be penalized. We learn it after we did the reservations and the clerks told us this. The thing that bother us, when you call AARP you get second language speakers and is impossible to understand them (if you are lucky to talk to a human after clicking the options on your phone for long time).

I'm an overall happy member of AARP! I get discounts on a few restaurants, especially those near me. I think I've used it a couple of times for discounts on hotels. I've gotten free $5 gift cards from their rewards section for earning points.I have watched a lot of their videos and gotten to watch some new release movies at home for free! I joined their walking club which motivated me to keep walking! Do I love that I get bombarded by sales calls and emails and mail?No. But, I just ignore that and use them to my advantage. As far as their supplemental medicare insurance, my Dad switched to them and went from paying Anthem BC/BS to, I believe, getting his supplemental insurance for free. I know everyone's situation is different with all the supplemental insurance choices, but for him, it's worked out pretty well ! So are they perfect, no, but do they serve me well? I have to say yes!

I joined to get some car rental and hotel discounts. In the 8 months I've been a member I have found that their main insurance customer, the Hartford is by FAR the more expensive insurance if you shop around yourself. Also, if you spend a little time shopping for travel discounts you can find them simply by being over 55. For $16 a year I'll likely keep my membership, even though they really should be paying me, but they don't get any kind of pass on any recommended products or services. And my trust level with this is VERY low.
@Over50tv

AARP is a huge sales and marketing machine. It’s no longer an evergreen service. I was astonished when I got a toolkit on working beyond 50. One of their messages was how to conceal your age when applying for a job. Not supporting and owning your age but how to play into the hand of the 28 year old hiring manager. They need me, a 59 year old, to manage their marketing bid fix that.

Okay so 5 years ago today my mother Sheila k rino r e y n a u d got AARP because she was on Medicare and they said that if she signed up for the first year and then continue to renew after that for a 5-year term that she would get $25,000 which she signed up for so she paid on that for 3 years and then renewed it for a bigger payment for $50,000 okay so she paid on that for 2 years until the 5-year term is up and then we also made me her son Micah Reynaud the beneficiary and Haley Alexis Reynaud was the second beneficiary okay so she got dementia shortly after renewing her 5 year term I didn't make payments for about 3 months she finally got in contact with them after she done moved and everything and she had dementia and got back in contact with the person that worked there and they said it was okay as long as you just picked up payments well it wasn't long after that about a month or two later she passed and so I called to get the claim and they told me that I was an old any money that they wasn't going to pay me anything give me any straight answers on this play hung up in my face.i just want the money we are owed plain and simple

They are the biggest supplier of Insurance in the nation so they lobby for all sorts of laws like Obama care because it made Insurance mandatory I joined because they brag so much about the Hartford and how much money you can save an auto insurance well Hartford morning show me AARP or not so bright that are near its bullshit.
