I have to clear up the truth about this track once and for all time because so many people ask after it. It was done as a test plate/dubplate and Abba Shanti had it way back in 1992.He is the only man who has it,its a one off and the original master tape was thrown into a skip about 12 years ago along with plenty of others. The released version was done a few months after this version and reflects the first original version from 1979 far more as it was.Abba Shanti can say more about it than me.
Thanks for letting us know Martin. Such a shame that the master is gone - this version would clean up on general release! I hunted this tune for years - finally got the released version, which is great, but this one a murder! Awesome, awesome roots music.
It’s the downfall of artist and producer they give master to sound man like Aba and they greatly regret it years later never to hear it again unless he play it some say DubPlate so it go but artist should always keep a copy
I used to have an aba shanti tape where, near the start, he runs Martin Campbell - Gunman a come and when he brings in the bass it's about as heavy as it gets! Anyone know the recording? think it was early nineties, thanks
