Just one word. "TENACIOUS"! Who'd have thunk it would ever run and actually drive again........ All of my vehicles were running perfectly when I parked them in the shed some 40 years ago but it has been a spell.
@@allysonhanks9159 Always open to new friendships in Christ. Hope you have been watching and learning from what I offer over on my channel. May God bless you and yours.
I can't help myself but everytime I see old Vehicles like this I think back to the day when it was brand new and the person that bought it was all happy and excited that they had themselves a brand new vehicle. Showing it off to friends and family.
I wish I could just come hang out with this guy and listen to his stories and anything he might be willing to teach. Honestly, dude is low key a master of his trade
I thoroughly enjoyed your tenacity in getting that old beauty running & driving again. Thanks for taking the 3 - 4 days working on this. She doesn't deserve the scrap yard.
I was laughing my ass off. It was a killer when it finally caught and made smoke as thick as fog. Kids, don't try this at home. Flat heads never die. That was fun. I'm glad you saved this old Dodge from being scraped, and Pablo was smart to get scarce (he looks like he'd been rolling in the mud). Thanks Brent. 👍😎🍺🕵🏾♂️🎸🎵👽🧙🏼♂️🥂
I had a 1952 Dodge panel in 1972, I was 20. Got it for $75 in Bellingham and drove it to Santa Barbara (1200 mi.). I put a 327 & automatic, out of a wrecked Vett. in it. Hippied-up the inside 8-track, shag carpet, paneling, etc... Painted it bronze, chrome side pipes under running boards, chrome rims w/ baby moons, and flames on the fenders. After I got married sold it for $1600. Wish I still had it. Loved your video - I could talk about my Dodge all day.
I have a 48 dodge pilot house and i think its a 2 ton! I'm going to put it on a 92 dodge One Ton frame ! The jury is still out on the engine ! Looking forward to seeing this project progress ! Thanks for sharing your visions and greetings from Montana !
A heads up for you Larry. There's an newer low mileage 5.7L hemi, auto trans, and transfer case listed in Kijiji Timmins or was it Facebook Marketplace for $1000. I had dreams of plugging it into Rat Rod Fargo but the guy wants a fortune for it and living on CPP&OAS doesn't allow for fun at that level. Or the guy with the Fargo also has a 5.9L cammed and Edelbrock intake and carb, price unknown. Hope this might help your search.
you keep asking why do i keep on going. the simple answer, to put ear to ear smiles on thousands of viewers who wish they could be in the shop when the unexpected happens. Keep it up!
I would love the opritunity to restore a great clasic like that. Right now I am working on a 1979 Dodge Powerwagon. I am all about the classics way better than any thing built today.
4 days now you have a good runner doesn’t blow smoke 💨 All the tyres hold air clutch works what more could you ask for it worth twice as much good save mate 👍💯🇦🇺
This was a fun feature length movie, glad you stuck it out cuz I knew you were so close... it's always a balance needing 3 hands to work the starter, open the throttle, bottle feeding, etc.
Going back through your older videos and found this classic today. Loved the “we don’t wanna have a Mortske moment” reference when you were hammering the valves. 🤣 Good stuff this.
Man that is a cool old dodge! The 2 green clearance lights on the top of the cab are flat out cool!!! Thanks for sharing never a disappointment on your channel!
I have no idea why I love videos like this so much but this is really lovely. It's nice to just sit back and relax and listen to this while doing other things. Thanks for the entertainment!
That same spark tester i brought a 6 pack from Princess auto around 15 years ago. Like you i only have one or two of them now LOL!!!! Wish they would get them again! they where so GREAT!!!!
I love your positive attitude, and your commitment to doing what ever it takes to get the job done. I’ve been watching your channel and older videos for a while and I really appreciate you and the skills you have and how you make things work out and if it doesn’t work you readjust and try it again. And always with a little chuckle and say it’s only metal or a small setback but it will be alright. Thanks again for the enjoyment
You are such a hard worker and a great attitude. Yup, I wanna be like you when I grow up. LOL I'm 56... You are my hero:) Love the channel, Been here for over a year recommended from DD speed shop. You are a master
Hi Robert, how are you doing. I hope you are safe and in good health. Looking for a new friend and i saw your pic here. I hope you don't mind thank you.
WOW,i have worked at dealerships all my life, and you sir are by far the most knowledgeable person i have ever seen.you,in my opinion you have the ability to fix about anything.
That has to be your best video yet! my wife kept asking me what i'm watching because i kept laughing, i use my head phones to watch your show, she finally went to bed! What a great night!
I like the way you laugh when you get some small success on the truck. Make me want to watch more of your videos. Thank you for the laughs today I needed that.
You squeeze that fuel bottle more precisely then some early era fuel injection systems! From a dodge guy, great to see something happening with this one! Awesome video!
Rise of the Phoenix! You are definitely a "Glass half full guy." Like the Merck suggestions. Belly laugh for the live points shocker! As ever, fun to watch Brent?
You said this might be boring to watch, but its actually very exciting and intense siting and thinking Now will it start ?!?@oh gosh how bout now !??! And I've never seen anyone play valve bongos
That's the funniest video yet. I was laughing my butt off when you were trying to get it in gear and grinding the whole time. Awesome to see your persistence pay off. Thanks for the good time.
Hello Eddie, how are you doing. I hope you are safe and in good health. Looking for a new friend and i saw your pic here. I hope you don't mind thank you.
I cut my teeth on the old Pilot House Dodges back in the day. Part of my hoard included a 50 like yours. Mine was a standard cab like yours without the corner windows. Looks like you got the 1 ton pickup. They came factory with a 9 foot box.
I'm so amazing to see your mechanic knowledge, and enjoy watching you doing a fantastic work, one thing I really admire you, is you are so politely explained the mechanism and the problems ahead of you time, and you also don't uses swear words during your operation, it's so smooth hearings when I listened to your explanation and very easy to understand, I would like to wish you all the best and continue showing your wonderful knowledgement, Thank you Sir.
Hi Brent, love those old Dodges man. I'm glad you got your hands on it that's for sure you'll do something with it even if it's just around the shop. It's all about saving all metal. Man I caught hell on my 2000 K 2500 getting the wheels off of that wow wow where they stuck and my health being disabled I struggled but I kept with it and I got them all done that's for sure. Every time I watch your videos you influence how I work on my vehicles. Every little bit of insight that I get damn sure helps me out I can't be thankful enough. Anyway you take care many blessings to you and your family.
You better let that starter cool down. You bent one intake valve I think. Should have let them soak with marvel all night. Sounds like low timing and weak spark
I would call that a run. Check out all the smoke in the gooseneck hole!!! That kinda smoke gets the skeeters dead and gone man. I would've took that damn hood off. Oh that squeeze bottle will double as a fire grenade.haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa baaaaaaa
Well, my friend, I am so glad you went through to the end on this one and got that old Dodge running, driving, moving, etc. I learned a lot watching you work on the motor, heads, and other stuff and used the process of elimination of what the problem is from front to back. And all the laughing you did, you really enjoyed yourself, that was cracking me up. That was a very educational for someone who has not worked around cars much. A+
I don't want to buy that truck! Even so, this was one of the best "will it run" videos I've seen. I think everyone else on the web would have quit after the first head-off clean-up left us disappointed. Then when the head went back on the second time and still no joy in Mudville I was sure you'd quit can't-win-'em-all-style. But no, you stayed with it beyond all reason. I don't know why you did that either, but the fight was good for more than one LOL. Thanks.
Agreed , I was rollin on the floor --- a few different times as it was good, then it got better ! First test run ---- to the door ! Man you KNOW that's reaaaaally skitchy !
Hello Frank, how are you doing. I hope you are safe and in good health. Looking for a new friend and i saw your pic here. I hope you don't mind thank you.
Dr. Frankenstein brings life to his monster. His laugh reminded me of the original movie. I enjoy his attitude. I guess no one is noticing that the live video has disappeared. RU-vid>
In his New Mexico trilogy [the Milagro Beanfield War, etc...], John Nichols talked about the "vestigal horses" of Northern New Mexico. Every little homestead has a horse or two grazing in the pastures. Nobody rides them, they are left over from a time when people made their living on horseback. Your old Dodge makes me think again, as I often have, of the "vestigal pickup trucks" of the American Midwest. Almost every farm or ranch has an one or more late 40's pickups parked behind the barn, or out in the back 40. Nobody drives them anymore, but they were built so well that a lot of them are capable of being rennovated. They are part of our history, built in a time when people depended on their truck to get done what had to be done. Thank you for putting the effort into this old Dodge. I can't tell you how much of a kick I got out of hearing it run.
In all of the episodes on all of the channels that I have watched, I don't think that I have ever pulled for anyone to get a vehicle moving like I did for you on this one. Thank you for not giving up!
Oh, when you were working on panel truck engine, and i watched you weld onto broken exhaust manifold studs. I finally got brave enough to try it. Thanks! I have drilled hundreds. Never again!
Hello David, how are you doing. I hope you are safe and in good health. Looking for a new friend and i saw your pic here. I hope you don't mind thank you.
Send that burned up starter to old mortske he is an expert with starters! Lol. You both have great content it would be awesome to see you guy do something together! That would definitely be RU-vid gold for sure lmfao!
Why not yank the old engine and replace it with a Cummins diesel. Those old girls were built for hauling and a Cummins would just reinforce that heritage. Just my thoughts on the matter.
love seeing those being rescued. I just picked up a 68 Chevy C30 dump truck. Worked on it for three days, got it inspected and it's back on the road after it sat for 10 years. Good job brother.
Locked up or loosey-goosey almost equally almost equally as bad at least in my experiences still fun to play with though it's the challenge in this case on your Dodge you have both problems lol Thanks for the videos I'll keep watching
Been watching your videos last couple of days and much respect to your talent and desire to bring great automotive content. Will continue watching the rest of your videos and keep up the great work!
i find i enjoy your fault finding as much AS your hot rod building..im not a mechanic so ty for actually showing what youre doing instead of cutaways then all fixed stuff.. TY Sir love your channel
