We got this 1954 International R120 pickup from a subscriber who said it "Ran when Parked" 27 years ago. It's got the inline 6 cylinder OHV engine and 4 speed manual transmission. Lets get it cleaned up and see if we can get it back to its former glory! If you're interested in purchasing the pickup I have bad news... It sold less than 12 hours after we posted this video to one of our subscribers! BUT, if you're interested in the 1953 Studebaker pickup, Jimmy would like $500 for it in the shown condition. Email us if you're interested in the Stude! Thanks for watching everyone!

The reason the old internationals aren’t rusted out is the thickness of the sheet metal on the body. It’s hard to knock a dent in one with a framing hammer. They are like a tank. Brake drums are larger, clutches and flywheels are larger. They were built to last like a tractor. I’ve had 2 of them when I was younger. 71 now. They are good trucks. 👍😀👉🇺🇸

The long bed on this truck looks really good and I was shocked that the bed floor was in such good shape. They must have used galvanized steel or something on the bed floors for it to survive. I learned to drive in one of these. I think it was 265 ci. It had a main bearing between each cylinder. It was so tough you could pull tree stumps in low gear. Once I bounced over railroad tracks and it started running rough. It would idle but missed when you step on the gas. Turned out the coil wire fell off and was arcing about 4 inches to make contact. Great memories.

Yeah it broke my heart. I had a 55 R-110 with the same engine. Got it with 85k on it and it was the 2nd one that had been placed in it. After putting about 75k more on it , I had it rebuilt for $1100. A big price for a Senior in college. I came home for Christmas and due to heavy snow took my 48 Willy's Pickup 4x4 with a snow plow on it and 500lb of rocks in it from College Spring to Abilene, Tx. Boy it was a great choice. Had a rear winch a front winch ( blocked by plow ) and a couple of yellow strobe lights. When came back my dad HIGHLY suggested I let my brother use it. A couple of years later he blew the rear end. If I had it, I'd take your idea of a Camaro subframe and a 350 Chevy small block for the truck to make it safe and road worthy again. Plus Chevy components are affordable and easy to source unlike the 54 International parts which are scarce as you pointed out. I'd keep the body as is.

@@farmguys1 sorry to correct my friend, there's no such animal as a 302 six cylinder in a Ford, a 302 is a small block V8, the closet to that in a six cylinder is a 300ci it has 7 mains, this is the one you are referring to. The 300 is essentially a truck motor, same size as a 240 ci in a car but with a longer compression stroke. Many of those Ford 300 engines are still being used today in courier vans and yes I agree, they are very stout when it comes to power, torque and taking punishment.

@@stoveboltlvr3798 I have a '95 F150 in the sideyard that is an absolute POS. No fuel pressure, vacuum leaks for days, leaks like a sieve, the works. We don't drive it hardly ever, tags expired 3 years ago, hadn't had a battery in it at all in 2021. *But it has a 300 under the hood.* Had to rescue my mom because her 03 explorer no-crank'd on 'er while she was doing the doordash shit so I put a battery in that thing, turned the key, aaannnddd..... **It busted off like it had been running 20 minutes prior.** It runs like utter shit because of all the vacuum leaks and the fuel system being woefully inadequate but god damnit it still busted off without hesitation and it hit on all six the entire time. Indestructible engine. Even when it has no business running at all it still runs *and drives*. Ford really needs to stop dicking around with this ecoboost bullshit and bring the ol' 300 back.

@@joeschlotthauer840 I would just put a regular manual granny gear four speed in it or as a last resort a three speed. Lots of them out there. I have done similar swaps in the past and the only real engineering is in making the clutch linkage work. If you know how to weld and have the ability to think on your feet, it's really not all that hard. An auto swap is usually even easier, but not as much fun to drive.

Lol don’t say stuff like that, good way to start a online battle of what’s better and who’s dumb…. Cummins is overdone like LS and SBC PS swap would be cool. And the other comment with the IH tractor. Or a Ford 300 would be different..ish…

Why not go with a Cummins diesel and a 5 speed!!! Orr you could do a 440 Dodge and Hurst that would WORK!!!

What about finding a rusted or rough 7.3 powerstroke? International engine, one ton axles, disc brakes, 2wd or 4wd and body swaping it.

Mortske: "We'll just throw a battery in and see if she rolls over" Starter (who hadn't been listening) : "What? Who's there? What does he wanna do?" I'm on strike so he don't go wasting his time on this POS" Mortske: "Rocker area looks real good" Solenoid: "You can't tell a book by its cover, boy. You still aint listening" Mortske: "Let's play the game of how many valves are stuck. Stuck, not....." Solenoid: "Hey - you gettin' warmer, son....."
