Spielberg did NOT have the sharks destroyed. After filming they were shipped back to Universal. They belonged to Universal, not Steven Spielberg. Like many props, they were stored haphazardly on the backlot in the open. I have pictures of them taken by a family member that toured the studio in the 70s. Being stored in the open, the skins rotted pretty quickly in the harsh CA sun. When filming began for Jaws 2, they wanted to re-use the sharks to save money. But, the only useable parts were the chromaly body frames, which were re-skinned and fitted with a newly sculpted head for the sequel.

@@gilbertnatal855 No you wouldn't. They looked pretty awful by the time my cousin saw them. I remember seeing the pictures as a kid and saying, "What's that? That's not Jaws."😂 They looked rough. Almost heartbreaking.

Awww, I'm so happy the Rudolph puppets are in good hands! Rudolph is by far one of my favorite Christmas movies, because I have such great memories of it and I loved the animation style and how soft the reindeer look. I wish there were more puppets that were saved. How cool would it be to find Hermie, or Yukon Cornelius, or Snowman Sam, or even the Bumble!

It's nice that 2 of them were saved, but it's kinda sad that a bunch of them melted in the loft. I actually have the 2010 Rudolph and Clarice Build-A-Bears, and they live in my room year round. They have similar curly fur to that of the original puppets used in that movie.

It still watch Rudolph every year on Christmas. Always has been a tradition growing up. I can't wait to share the movie with my daughter. She already loves Nightmare Before Christmas as much as I do. I would love to see the puppets on display and perhaps the rest of them.

A lot of people don't really know just how valued they are. Others just don't have the space to take in such things and instead leave them to rot.

Great video. That opening song, someone really likes Fallout, especially New Vegas. Not the first time I have noticed musical references from the Fallout franchise. I really like the Fallout franchise, myself.

That last one made me wonder what happened to the puppets from my two favourite Christmas movies Santa claus is coming to town produced by Rankin/Bass and the little drummer boy which is also produced by Rankin/Bass and here are my results. Santa claus is coming to town: only 1 reindeer is known to have survived to today. And for the little drummer boy: it’s unknown if any are left which is sad 😢

You forgot the Titanic model from the 1980 movie raise the Titanic Wich lies in decay in Malta with a few Titanic enthusiasts trying to restore it that prop took the whole budget of the movie including the deleted sinking sequence that would take place in the beginning of the film

I saw the Lotus sub car with fins but no wheels on sawhorses behind a Ford dealership in Palo Alto, Calif. in late 1977. Peering through the louvers I saw a bare interior with a scuba system and air tanks. From what I have read it may have been on a promo tour for the movie.

The space ships from 2001: A Space Odyssey were destroyed after filming was completed, I had heard. But part of the rotating wheel-like space station was discovered elsewhere. Makes me wonder if any other bits and pieces were saved.....somewhere.

The Tara facade was not a tourist attraction, it was on a studio backlot which was still in operation (as a production facility and not an attraction) when the facade was moved.

because it was made in 1964 and no one cared about these things then. no one knew it would be a classic for generations. today, z-budget movie props sell for stupid money, there's even a cottage industry of prop replicas. back then, studios made a lot of product and storage isn't cheap. studios do have archives, of course, but a lot of things wound up in stores (usually costumes), donated to theatres/museums, or just deemed not worth keeping vaulted up for no one to ever see. probably one of the best costumes ever to be rescued was the cowardly lion out of a dumpster, if memory serves.
