These are the two Sowell Mill Pike bridges, old and new. I spent several nights during my teenage years sitting out on this old bridge with friends. These are in eastern Maury County near Columbia Tennessee. They cross the Duck River in the once thriving community of Leftwitch. The old Bridge is no longer used for vehicle traffic and has become a place where people come hang out and spray paint. I live a couple miles from here and love this area. If you want visit the bridge you can park at the corner of Carpenters Bridge Road and Old Sowell Mill Pike. When you park you'll see what to do. Here are the coordinates: 35.5733848, -86.8666055
Here is some history on the bridge and the old community. It shows the old iron bridge that used to stand just downstream of the concrete bridge. The river once got so cold and froze just below the bridge. You can see a photo of a truck out on the river ice! Its a neat read. There are all kinds of old little forgotten communities here in middle TN and I want to document them.
